Start to finish coming soon......The project is done, but the Log needs to be completed.

Exterior dimentions - 20.36 Cubic feet.

Interior dimentions - 15.4 Cubic Feet, 198.25 sqin of port, that is (ATM) 19 inches long.

Wall is for 2 15 inch RE SP (From Elemental SP 15's) reconed with MT cone, dustcap and surround, and the HC coil. Subs were rated to take about 1000 watts each, and they like the 2400 they are getting quite nicely.

Power is coming from 2 Viper 1200.1 D's. Pics are coming Very soon, as well as the entire story, from start to Almost Finished.

Very soon as in starting now....Uploading pics to Photobucket.

Started off as a small idea, turned reality with the Help of Team PSI (David) Thanks for all the good info.

Some of it i went with, some of it i havent as of yet.

Anyway, here is the original stock shot of my Backseat.

Normal everyday back seat.....from a 2001 dodge neon.

Here is a shot of the subs that i had sitting in the room for a month........i just couldnt wait anymore

First obstacle was space. I first was oing to be stuck with more or less 12 cubes, because my back seat area is very small. That was until i talked to Dave about it and he told me i could cut out the rear deck........I never even thought about it.......so here is the rear deck, before any mods to it at all..

I dunno about cutting the rear deck.... It provides a significant amount of bracing for your car. Wouldn't want your car to fold in half or anything.

my only worry is by form of a crash....other than that, i am cool.

I had no idea how to deal with the issue of the rear deck, or to build around it, so i just cut it out.

Speaking of going back stock........car rides the same. here is a pic of everything back in, seats clipped and bolted in place after the back deck was taken out as well.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/31everythingbackin.jpg

Now i knew the side was going to be hard...and getting measurements were next to impossible. but i did know what was important....total height, at the front of the box, and at the rear of the enclosure. Instead of just making a rectangle, i wanted to take advantage of the fact that i have 39 inches of depth to work with, as opposed to 17, if it did not extend into the trunk. I gained soooo much space, as well as stability, and mointing points (to the car) by removing the rear deck, so all in all, it was pretty much a must.

Here is a shot of the first time i implemented cardboard into building anything at all.....and i really didnt think it was going to workk, but it worked out quite nicely.

i ended up doing a lot of this at night, until it came to cutting and all that stuff.

Front Seats Removed.....for the first time

The original bottom, which is indeed the bottom of the enclosure, but it would have killed me had i not replaced it with something much larger, and more sturdy

Yes i really like how that back piece fit along the back so perfect....like most i hadnt seen.

it was cool.

More pics.....

the new and improver larger bottom piece.....it started out 57x36, and pretty much stayed that way. this is the piece that gets bolted to the car inside the trunk, with lots of mounting hardware.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/56Newandimprovedbottom.jpg

If you can see the lines there, thats the countour that i cut it as to fit my car.

The first batch of wood, that i had cut the home depot.......
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/41thewood.jpg

there is 3 sheets od MDF cut down to usable amounts......just under 300LBS of MDF went into the project. thats a lot of wood

Front seats had to be taken out, in order to have any room to work with, whatsoever

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/43nofrontseats.jpg

some of the mounting hardware used. I use more, and bigger bolts, as well as a section of sheet metal on the underside that i didnt get pics of, but thats to ensure that if i crash, it wont come forward an smash me.

no total insurance on that though....

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/47-1fourthofthemountingHardware.jpg

heres the first side piece, I cut it using the cardboard template, but as you see the second line on there, i had to trim it down a little, to allow for the second, unplanned bottom sheet.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/46-onesidecut.jpg

traced the second one from the first, as it makes things much easier.

Original ride height, just over 28.25 inches

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/50actualrideheight.jpg

2 layers of peal n seal in the trunk. It helped out marginally, but made the trunk a lot heavier, but didnt do too much, as far as suppressing the rattles are concerned.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/172layersofPeennSeal.jpg

Wouldnt really expect 2 layers to do that much though

lawl

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/60-orginalbottomheighttesting.jpg
Once again, the original bottom piece.....t is the bottom of the box, but is no longer the way that the box is secured to the car. It was originally planned so i could maximize airspace, but lookng at it, its just not pratical.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/62-Bottomclampedinthefrontwithlotso.jpg

That is the bottom....it covers the bottom, all the way to the back of the trunk,. to the front of the back seat. This is what you would call, the dance floor. It is clamped down in the front. heavy amount of glue in the front, wood glue that is

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/63cuttheedgesoitwentinthecar.jpg

Clamped down in the front, left it clamped for a day or so. Tried pulling that piece up from the back side.....its not happenin at all

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/63cuttheedgesoitwentinthecar.jpg

had to cut the back corners out to get it to fit in the trunk.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/66-Frontshotofbottom.jpg

Pic of the bottom....its actually 5 layers Thick, with mounting hardware in each corner

Reason for all taht is because the area where the seats are, is lower than the area where the trunk floor is, and it needed to all be nice an even, or the wall would have a little lean in it, whicl is really bad, and un necessary....Thing has to be solid, or it can move while you are driving....which i can imagine, is truly horrible.

^^The basis of my existence [/shameless plug]

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/74toptestfit.jpg

Test firring of the first top piece of the box. Created runner boards, because there is no other logical way to get the top installed correctly, when i was doing this as a solo project. I actually recommend it for most cases in general, as they make the build process even easier

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/75BackRunnersandBackison.jpg

Top with runners, and the back is now attached. Back is NOW double baffeled, for added strength.

iamamp3pimp
06-05-2006, 06:31 PM
back has its own runners, because the angles were all F'ed up during the build process. that pic of the top was a test fit, nothin was actually attached, but it all fits quite nicely

Pic of the corners matching up nicely in the front..

i had to move this thing around, for the build like no other. I really didnt think it would be necessary to do as much moving it around as i had too. I even sat it on the center console a few times. Trying to turn that thing around isnt very feasible, or easy for that matter.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/77-partoftheprocess.jpg

Case in point....I cant move it very far at all.

Another test fit of the top

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/82Toptestfit.jpg

I probably did more testing than anything, the whole time keeping the big picture in mind......its ugly as all hell, but its gonna be **** loud.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/81sidenight.jpg

A night shot of the side..

something i advise that you never ever ever do

Put the top piece in without screws.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/83Angledtopisin.jpg

not the top, but the angles top. I was under the impression, that glue would hold it here. boy, oh boy i was wrong. I had to sut the top at a 30 degree angle, and it was deinately the most difficult part, and it took near 4 hours to get it cut right. I would have to say again, that it as the most difficult part. I was able to squeeze a bit more airspace.....which is always a good thing.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/84frontbaffletest.jpg

thats a test just to make sure they fit. they fit.

gotta love spare baskets

iamamp3pimp

and another angle of the test fit..

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/85doubledup.jpg

A double test fit

really making use of those spare baskets. Wishing i had spare 12 baskets too.

the one on the right, it looks like it doesnt fit......thats because it didnt, but it did after sanding down the ring a bit.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/88testfits.jpg

Yet another angle of the fitting.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/89DoubleBaffledPort.jpg

Here is a decent shot of the port. Port is Double baffled. I actually connected the double port baffle to the double front baffle, before i doubled the front up. that ay i didnt have to screw through 2 baffles, and expect enough of the screw to get inside the port baffle, to actually hold the two together.

another angle

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/90doublebaffledport.jpg

Night shots of the side again. I took lots of pics of the side for whatever reason

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/91sidenightafterglue.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/92sidenight.jpg

and the moneyshot.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/93frontinnotscrewedandglued.jpg

thats both baffles, and both ports, sitting in the box, but not attached in any way. I actually screwed screws through the box from the inside, at the top of where the port would "sit", in an attempt to add "runner" lines for the port, since i did the project solo, i neded as much help as i could get, and that worked out quite well.

Another money shot

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/94-moreofthesame.jpg

Another thing that i did not photograph, was the brace, that runs right up the middle of the front baffle. It was somewhat difficult, to conjur, but once i got everything sorted out, it was rather easy. In the end, it was more like a capital I i created the brace, and screwed it to the top, and the port, both from the inside. No noticable flex in the front, due to this.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/95dayshotofthefrontin.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/96fromoutside.jpg

I think you can see the brace in that one. lol, in order to get the whole front/port/brace piece attached, i had to Kick that bish in there. literally, i had my back against the dash board on one side, and the steering wheel on the other, and kicked it until it was in.

this thing is glued, screwed and bolted in now. forgot to get pics of the bolts, but there is about half a bottle of glue, lots of liquid nails, and about 100 screws holding the box to the dancefloor, as well as some additional bracing that will be added the next time i remove the subs.

see the parts where it is touching the metal?

it makes a dang creaking noise while i drive and it too **** annoying, point being, its the onle mistake i made. I didnt cut enough of the back deck out.
sok though, Soon wnough, i will have a dremel to get the rest out. I just cant reach it with an angle gringer, without cuttong about another 3-4 inches out on each side, and thats not necessary.

I should have gotten better pics of the **** template for the cardboard. I made the beauty board template of a bunch of small cut to fit pieces of cardboard, tapes together, making one big *** janky piece of cardboard....but hey, it worked.......a lot.

More pics.! . !

here are a few shots of the front baffle, as installed on the summer project of 06

Here are a few of the braces that i used for the back, top, and port to side bracing.

had to put a bottom on them, because that make it 10x easier to install them inside of the box.

Allthread coming soon.

More pics of the front wall

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics215.jpg

never got good pics of the template used to cut this, but man, it was cool. Lots of small cardboard pieces cut to fit the corners, contour of the car, and themselves.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics246.jpg

Shot of the removed center console, and the front baffle template
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics240.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics242.jpg
that off looking hole in the port was necessary so i could get my hand in there, and trace the correct cut, from the inside.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics247.jpg

had to cut a good hole in for the port.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics248.jpg

Wall with the front baffle on...... I had to trim it and cut it so many times to make it fit. the template was good, but not perfect.

I used the baskets to get a good oval though, that really, really, really came in handy.

iamamp3pimp
06-14-2006, 06:17 PM
Pretty good shot of the top left side with the front baffle attached. It isnt a PERFECT fit, but its **** close, and you cant tell with the finish on anyway, so its all to the good.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics249.jpg

Here is a not so good shot of the right side, but it is better fitting than the left side. All is well here

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics250.jpg

The pipes used to connect everything together. Each lead has its own dual run of 14GA wire. bring it down to about 11 GA i do believe, with is fine IMO for what i am doing.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics259.jpg

8 runs of wire 9-10 feet in length, so i can actually work with it, without holding the sub in the air. i just roll up the wire inside the box. I felt it was good to leave as much slack as possible n this case, and it worked out quite well i'd say.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics260.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics261.jpg
Here is a shot of the painted front baffle. Originally i was going to use a black fabric, so i painted the edges f the insides to help hide any imperfections. worked out just fine in the end.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics266.jpg

Here is a brace that i made. it was hard as all hell to make, but it added a ton of stability inside the box.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics263.jpg

i still dont know what im going to do with the floor carpet.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics286.jpg

When i decided to cover it......i had no idea how i wanted to do it.

I just walked into walmart, and something caught my eye, The simulated leather.....it lust looked so much better than anything that they had, so i picked up a couple yards for 7 bucks or so...

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/iamamp3pimp/Worklogs/The%20Wall/newpics287.jpg

I also had to get some batting, because i couldnt have it all hard, and bad feeling........besides, i am really liking that plush look, that is soft too the touch.
