seriously I have no clue what to do with the enclosure I'm building next week. I had plans but now I'm second guessing them. I have 2 of the 2006 model Type R subs...I want to port them. I've never had a ported box before. I heard 34 is a good frequency so that's what im shooting for. The box can't be more than 14" tall X 30" deep (that one is semi flexible) X 37" wide. I have a lot of space to work with. I don't know weather to go 3 cubes, 4 cubes, 5 cubes, or what....slots vs. aeros...it's freaking complicated and I'm getting burned out trying to figure it all out...........................

My heads gonna implode if I read one more of your box threads
But go with 5 cubes between 32 and 35 should be good for ya;)

yeah i know, i have about a billion theads now, and that is because as soon as i make up my mind...a day later i change it. For some reason if 1 person says they had a bad expierence with an option i label it as terrible...and someone said the box I was going to build sounded crappy...lol
stress
plus it's final exam week in school! lol

but one last thing, if I tune to 32 does that mean any frequencies under 32 wont play good or at all?

Tune it to 35hz, 5 cubes

<--- my r's tuned to 32 sounds good
I'm the same way with everything I do...Takes me forever to decide

No ****, i hate it.
Usually, most bass reflex enclosures will play down to a certain point below tuning, but the enclosure doesn't control the movement of the cone below it. That's why you want to run a subsonic filter if you have a relatively high tuning frequency (32Hz should be fine without one).
Very strong infrasonic material will damage the driver if played very loud, but for almost all music out there, you don't need to worry about it.

ok so i will still get bass under the frequency of 32 or 34....wasn't sure
You will...just it'll have a steep rolloff below it.

6cuft@26Hz port H=12.5,W=5.5,L=42.35 F3=22.5Hz, no over excursion till 22Hz at 1200wrms, port noise wont start till below 24Hz, very flat freq responce.

too big
28-29Hz should give you a very flat response...

The laws of physics ****. But, like I said, there's very few musical tracks out there that have significant subbass content - most of them are organ pieces and other Baroque-style stuff that has 16-19Hz blasts :)

i'd reccomend the guy to talk to about it,.....the guy the OBVIOUSLY knows more about the subs than anyone on this forum....... but your profile image is peeing on it.

yup.
but you can always rebuild if you dont like it. Tune it no lower than 30. if it is tune dtoo low, it will peak low, which isnt as loud as peaking higher.......my old setup peaked @ 29 HZ.........I loved it, but it was too low for most.

lol yeah i know, the main reason i have this sig is cuz his prices are outrageous and he was trying to convince me I couldn't build a box myself....pushy salesmen = hate

man you are making to big a deal. just go with 5 cuft. tuned to 32hz if you like lower lowes or 34hz if you want it a tad bit louder. id think you would be happy either way. if this is your first ported enclosure just build one get it out of the way and if you don't like it the second one will be better anyway because now you are not a first timer.

lol yeah i know....i can't build it until next week anyway cuz like i said...it's finals week....so i was just trying to make sure this is what i want...
but while I'm here....feel like giving me a list of the stuff I'll need? I have MDF and carpet but the spray glue I have *****. So what else do i need? (different kind of glue, silicone, liquid nails?)

If you could, wouldn't it be built by now, instead of these threads?

Exactly.
I tuned high in my box, 36hz, and low songs still hurt my ears. Yes there's a rolloff, but who cares? It's still loud as ****. I used aeros in my box, used to have a slot. With the aeros I noticed an overall increase and a MUCH flatter response. I was so surprised at how flat everything became! Do 5 cubes, tune to your tastes (I swear I've said this before).

I'm going to build it next week. I have been crazy busy with work (mcdonalds plus memorial day weekend plus tourist town equals a crappy weekend) and preparing for final exams. So Next week is my first week of summer and I'm gunna build it then...
