View Full Version : Dual 10" "doubleshot" box log

05-23-2006, 10:07 PM
I just realized I don't have any building logs on here.So I figured what the hell for this box.

This is something "similar" to the "doubleshot".And yes, I designed it for anyone wondering. It's for 2 10's.I needed to try a new little formula out so I decided to build this test box.If it works out good I'll probably end up selling it.Also, just a note I do build enclosures. My sig. keeps getting deleted, but most of you know what I do.

I'm going to try and get some/most done tonight. So I'll update with new pics a little later.

So far the wood is cut, so here's a shot of that. All the cuts are straight. But some might look off in the pic.But every time I moved a piece over just a little I ended up moving another too far, etc. so on and so forth.Which is due to my patience (or lack thereof).Perfectionist and lack of patience don't go together. The final size will be 32" x 18" x 12 1/2"

Ok, who the **** am I kidding. It basically is a double shot.Exact same thing pretty much.John just cuts the slant a little differently in the "new" ones.

really straight looking cuts. What cutting tools caused it?

05-24-2006, 01:16 AM
A Ryobi BT3100 :) The guys at www.bt3central.com sold me on it.Good saw once you set it up right.

Ripped the sheet of MDF in half with a circular saw and a straight edge and used the table saw from there.

Looking good. We need more worklogs like this and less of these pitter patter box building threads. You know what I'm talking about, "Thinking about building such and such box, thinking about porting to this and this hz, what will I need to build such and such box, will this type of box increase my SPL?, etc etc etc.... More action and less talk like this good fellow here Mountaineer Man.

Let's keep the **** to a minimal degree here please. We don't need another 150 page box log of spam lol.Although that was fun.

I'll post build pics sometime tomorrow morning/afternoon.

Edit: BTW my carpet isn't really that color.**** flash ruins everything.

05-24-2006, 04:34 PM
like to see what you do. I have log pics as well. just dont have the log written yet.

05-24-2006, 04:47 PM

folded horn?

05-24-2006, 08:10 PM
Well, to be honest with you, no.

All the "transmission line" "rear horn" "folded rear horn" etc. that john or whatever his fanboys like to call it is all bullshit. But it still uses the 1/4 wave thing to its advantage. And despite what the fanboys say, it does have a tuning ;) And it is based off of cubic feet lol.If you're serious about these boxes I can give you some info privately. But until then we'll keep it a mystery to those who don't know ;)

BTW: I know I haven't posted pics yet.I haven't really gotten to do anything today.I ended up having to work a lot longer than I thought I would. They moved a deadline on us up by a week.

pwnt by pat, you have a PM back ;)

Now now lets be nice ;) Here's an internal shot of the design.I'm heading out to the shop right now.

05-25-2006, 01:19 AM
i dont know much about this kind of design..can you tell me whats the benefit of the slant?

05-25-2006, 03:11 AM
Ok, got some work done. It's not purty at the moment, but trust me, when its all said and done it *will* look good :) At least from the outside lol.I usually try and remove all the excess glue but it wasn't working this time so meh.Sanding it will be.towards the end I started making a mess on the inside with the wood glue.

The inside isn't pretty, but trust me.The outside will be, minus the port. The dark lines in some area are just glue.I'll take higher quality pics in the sun tomorrow so you can see it better.

05-25-2006, 07:37 AM
I probably would have gotten it done last night if we didn't just stand around bull shitting most of the time :(

05-29-2006, 12:54 AM
And I still haven't finished this box.But comments never hurt.......

05-30-2006, 12:34 AM

06-01-2006, 07:55 PM
Hey, I just got back into town last night around 3 a.m. and have been busy all day.I'm finishing it now as we speak.

As to everyone wondering about the designs, yes I can.And let me clear my PM box.

06-01-2006, 08:06 PM
And to answer some questions, I'm not even sure if I'm going to sell it.If I do, anywhere from $40-$70.I might even try selling it for more locally.

06-01-2006, 11:43 PM
I just now noticed I never posted any pics of the 4th order BP box I did.At least that I can remember..........

Only pic I can find at the moment other than a couple blurry ones. This is just before the top goes on.No I don't intend on removing it really.

06-02-2006, 12:59 AM
what's inside there? magnet looks gold lol

06-02-2006, 01:07 AM
In that, it's a pioneer ts-w255c.

06-03-2006, 04:31 PM
Looks like you have a lot of fun with wood glue :P GETRDONE I wanna hear about the results....

06-03-2006, 08:44 PM
that wood glue can get downright messy if you don't have a damp towel with ya.

06-03-2006, 08:48 PM
**** dude, your boxes ARE messy, lol.

06-03-2006, 09:02 PM
I've said it once and I'll say it again, I won't make em' clean unless I have to (i.e. an actual customer's box). ;) Or if it's going to be carpeted.Which I've decided to do with this box, so meh.I have to find and post some pics of my clean boxes.

Ohhhh goodie some P4S fanboys viewing :p:

06-03-2006, 09:30 PM
lookin good mountaineer

06-06-2006, 03:29 AM
I finally finished it.

I'll take pics sometime tomorrow.Right now I have a pair of crappy 10's installed, with only about 50 watts between the pair, in home.Hopefully tomorrow I'll throw it in car, with a whopping 65 watts per! lol
