Mountaineer Man did the design. I am going to start on it tomorrow. I can't wait. It's for a pair of PB-B1254v.2 12's powered of a Cadence z8000.

any reason for the angle in the internal wall?

That looks like an immense port with very little net volume, unless its not to scale.

Specs?

36W x 14H x 20D.

He said that it his version of the double shot??

it looks like youre getting less then 2cuft for both subs with like a 50+ inches of port, that thing have got to be tuned low as hell.

im interested on how is going to sound once youre done building it.

That's tuned quite high it appears. Also, why is there a bend in the port panel?

how did you figure its tuned high,

edit:
im sure itll peak high though

I figure because there is a HUGE port and next to no Vb. More port area = higher tune, and smaller volume with given port = higher tune. Put them together, and you can do the math.

Look at the length of the port though, prolly tuned lower. Like 33Hz is my guess.

i was thinking may be some were around 35Hz, but by using the diameter of the sub cut out as refrence.
posibly a 48" to 52" port thats mabe 4" wide x 13" high @ 2cuft, maybe 40Hz~ 45Hz tuning freq.

can Rage00 or Mountaineer Man share some specs on the enclosure.

PV Audio

The port is very long, which makes the Vb go into the tank. Specs?

That is one strange bend in the port wall.....

Only guesstimating, I am getting around 1.75 cubes. How wide is the port and how long?

PV Audio

NM, I see it.

PV Audio

Okay after just inputting some numbers, I get like 1.2 cubes tuned to 60+ hz (that's using the length of the wood and not measuring down the middle). Are you positive this is accurate?

James Bang

holy 5" port width.

No, 7.5" wide.

I agree... Thats like me selling you software that I cerated, designed and made for 450.00.. you then turn arround and make a bunch of copies of it and send it out to your friends for free... I then lose 450 bucks every time it gets passed allong for free. Oh well though. Edit it now if you are concerned. This is no where near the calibur of the software story.. but none the less for the designer.. its like having the secret sauce have it's secret ingredient identified to the world.... It just *****.

Dude I dunno, I really don't know without the port area. But what you said about 2 cubes gross is next to nothing.

reminds me of a snailshell but there isnt much of an angle to those pices so im thinking it will act like a higher tuned ported box..

hmm i did a little research and heres what i have found.yes it is a double shot. it shares alot of similarities to a tline enclosure and alot of the formulas are the same for both type of boxes. alot of 1/4wave theory....it is more of a sql box. should have the flat responce of a sealed box while providing more output than a ported one. should have great cone control and powerhandeling. i am going to assume that the group delay is much like a sealed box to. they excell in smaller places (like a car trunk). designed properly it should be very impressive.but remember this is supposed to be a slq box. there are differnt alignments that will yeild far more gain and there are differnt alignments that will yeild better SQ.

I never noticed this thread before. But for anyone doubting me, it IS indeed a double shot ;) I also thought it was funny to see how you guys tried caculating tuning.IIRC this box was tuned fairly low.I'd need to hop on the desktop and look in my old files to find out for sure though.BTW:The degree of the angle doesn't matter THAT much. What does matter is the difference between the two openings. That is all I'll say ;)

well now that is is bumped..... how did the box turn out?

Rage00
01-02-2007, 03:08 PM
the box turned out great! I had a pair of low-end pair of powerbass 12's in there, and was only giving them 250w. **** loud. I just recently took the box out. My wife took the truck to the store, and didn't pay attention to how she was putting the groceies in and smashed a tub of peanut butter through the cone of one. OH WELL. I still have the box though. I was just going to through some new subs in there, but I didn't think that it would work all that great. Time to do something elese anyway.
