of your going to build out of plywood you want something that is void free baltic birch ply is a very good choice of material for boxes and is the most common void free ply. but its expencive and only comes in a 5x5 sheet .

Lowes here has 4 x 8 sheets of baltic birch. It's $60 a sheet though :( :)

If you plan on covering it with carpet or anything, and weights not an issue. I would stick to MDF. Lot cheaper :)

Don't bother bith the Birch plywood. It's more expensive and you don't save on enough wieght for it to be cost effective. Simple 3/4" MDF is the way to go.

Just checked, your right baltic birch is avaliable in 12" x 60" or 60" x 60". I was looking at the canadian maple ply. Most is imported from the russian baltic region. :)

i dont think its the same stuff at as the 5x5 sheets. but either way a 4x8 sheet of any voild free ply or marine grade is very expencive. the most expencive stuff i have found was $220 per 3/4" 4x8 but i cant remember what kind it was

My point exactly, if weight is no concern. Stick too MDF :)
