I looked in the photo gallery and nobody had any pics of this. Just wanting to see it displaying ipod info, and the screensavers, etc. Thanks!

Local dealer not carrying them yet?

They probably have them but they are not connected to the ipod adapter or sat radio if I had to guess. I have had these questions about HU for this reason.

EDIT: I posted a few pics in this thread. Don't get excited because these were taaken with my phone while my wife was out of town with my camera. My wife and camera returned but now my camera seems to be more of a paperweight than a camera. At any rate: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151699 The picture of the unit lit up is with the ipod connected and the display in song/album mode.

Well I have been uploading pics taken with my phone to the CA.com file store and they can be seen here. And my backlight is set to white as opposed to the blue in pics above. http://www.caraudio.com/gallery/browseimages.php?do=member&imageuser=26599

Are there any other Hu's that can display battery info? Alpines?

Sorry for the fuzziness in those pictures, the camera is low quality, you can be sure the display is very crisp, better than what those show.

If your going to apologize for your pics I need to beg for forgiveness for mine. Suffice it to say those pics look very good.

@thai...
I think the 9815 and etc. have this feature. i will check tomorrow if the question isn't answered before then.

And, from what I hear around hear. You may be able to get Pioneer to honor warranty not saying that you will need them to but its good to know.

Well here is my 2 cents worth. I love the way Alpines look, love the sq of the Kenwood Excelons ( have one myself) but that pioneer looks sweet!! Very nice HU. I would love to hear how that sounds on some good equipment.

I bought mine from an authorized dealer, because I did not want to chance it. But in an early thread about the P880PRS this was mentioned by someone. To me saving 100 bucks was not worth it.

When I open my box and seen the rca's unattatched to the HU. It was like wtf. That p880prs doesn't have the color screen? Also can anyone tell me what the diffrence is between the DEH8600mp and the P880prs? My 8600mp looks identical and seems to have all the same features. But yea they are some sexxy HU's.

I owned an 860, just went to the 880.
Couple of differences- dual 16 band eq's, the ability to turn off the internal amp. Im sure theres more, but those are the first two that come to mind.

wow, we can finally turn off the amp....wow...that's friggen awesome

the 860 has the detachable rca as well as a couple other previous models, comes in handy if you don't have your rca's labled and need to remove the head unit a couple times for any reason, one plug versus a possible six....

Could you elaborate on how the two units compare? I'm thinking of doing the same switch. Did you use either in network mode? Looks, mp3 loading time, etc. Thanks.

Well I never had an 860, but as far as loading time on the 880prs...lol...yea right. This thing is the fastest loading fastest reading deck I have ever come across, MP3, WMA or CD. Hope that helps someone somewhere....

I dunno about fastest loading...
My eclipse loads CD's incredibly fast, it literally ***** the CD in.

Yea when I was referring to loading it wasn't CD loading I had in mind, more like the MP3 or WMA file being loaded into memory to be played. As far as sucking up CD's I imagine it's nothing special.

Well, a week into owning my 880PRS, I would have to say there are only a couple tiny things I would change if I could. One is that while it's readable in direct sunlight, it takes on a monochrome look that isn't all that flattering. At night it's a jewel though. Another is that I wish the song titles could just scroll smoothly, with all the fancy animations, there's no reason it has to move over digit by digit. That's really all though, the performance is everything I could ask for and a lot more. This is the kind of deck that does it's job so good you end up keeping it forever, even when you eventually pickup a new one :)

How do you delete double posts on here yall?

Eldorado
04-23-2006, 04:50 PM
you cant...
You should be able to change how the song/title/artist show up.
I know i can do that on my 940, it doesnt scroll though, just pops up

Jazn, it will be a little while before I get the 880 in and get it fine tuned. I have to do some mechanical work on my truck before I bother putting the new setup in.
I never used the 860 in network mode, but Ill let you know what other differences I come across.
As far as looks (bearing in mind this is just physical looks, havent seen the display on the 880 yet), the 880 looks much more streamlined. Theres fewer buttons, and the buttons are more flush with the face.
I like it much better. You may not, depending on your personal tastes.

Alphakenny, are you referring to time alignment? If so, yes it does have that.

alphakenny1
04-23-2006, 07:10 PM
Real time ?

meaning that when changing xover pts/slopes and peq, you can actually here the change right there when you change it and also being able to up the volume in the PEQ, xover menus. the alpine you cannot do this, you must go back to the main menu and then it'll be able to hear the change. then if you don't like it, you gotta back to eq/xover menu and then change whatever you want and then again go back to the main menu to actually hear the change.

Yes absolutely everything is real time, phase, slope crossovers, time alignment, it's all real time and FAST, no wait whatsoever just a less than 1 sec pause. Also since it has a seperate volume knob you can adjust the volume no matter what you are tuning, these are the small changes you will find when you buy Premier Reference Series.
