1991-1995 MR2 Turbo...Light, RWD, Mid engine....quick as hell with the right mods while being cheap in itself....

mustangs are tight. gt if you want to look nice, notchback lx if you want to go fast. those notches are light as hell. camaros, firebirds. the mr2s as mentioned. not a whole lot else for cheap. im assuming youre talking sports cars.

if i was going to build another fast car, id probably buy a 93 lx notchback 5 speed and twin turbo it. problem is, i have entirely too much money into my firebird to sell it, i wouldnt even get half what i put into it back, so im just gonna keep it. keep that in mind, you want to go fast, and drive hard, its gonna get ****ED expensive.

thats if i was gonna buy another car, which i wouldnt. if i was getting new vehicles, id get myself a nice 4x4 explorer for daily and a crotch rocket for going fast.

i say go with a 5.0 mustang. They are one of the best sounding engines imo and are cheap to mod. If I was to get a 2nd project car it would most likely be one of those. Or if you want a 4 banger go with a corolla hatch, the ultimate drift car.

man i want that thing so bad, but my ultimate dream car would have to be either a 04 mustang saleen or a 1995 supra.

^^ nah the corollas are a hard car to drift well in....to short a wheel base...still a kick *** car though

yea there wheel base is hella short and they have no power

I'd suggest a 93-95 Z28 or TransAm as a DD

I'm looking at a 96 M6 Trans Am for a DD (20mpg city when driven right, 30 highway... and still enough power to smoke imports on the streets)

After I get my DD set in stone soon I want to get a 5.0 stang as a project car. It's the only Ford I would buy, and they're super cheap to build up. Throw a couple bolt-ons on one and you'll be smokin 95% of cars on the road for cheaper.

96 Ford Thunderbird, LX 4.6L, I picked mine up for $3500. Takin Mustangs and Camaros by suprise! :up2somet:

Only mustang or camaro you're takin is a V6.. which isn't much to be proud of.

My mom's stock 4.0 Grand Cherokee (98) can do that.... while hauling 200lbs of stuff.

Not too sure about that one.....I dragged a brand new Mustang GT last summer and lost by about half a car length. I'm not saying its the fastest car on the street but it certainly isnt the slowest.

Guessing for $3500 you didn't get much money in to it.. and I'm pretty sure it would take a LOT of money to get that car up to par with a z28/GT. And, how could you justify spending tons of money on a slow car when you could just buy a fast car stock.

Post mods and post pics or consider yourself OWNED. Good game, you lose, good game bye. Kill yourself slowly. Eat razorblades. :yumyum:

Are you absolutely kidding me right now? Do you have any experiene with my particular vehicle or with the motor? The 4.6 is a very durable and powerful engine. To be up to par with a Z28?GT, the GT's of the same era have the same engine in them bro? Do you realize this? Just simply getting a SCT Tune in my car and a new rear gear and it will own any stock Z28/GT. From the lot my car cost $3500, its been retuned by my Uncle, and straight piped and I ran a ram air style intake. Its still basically stock, I know for a fact that it will beat a stock Mustang GT of the same era.

JeffyZ33
04-22-2006, 05:08 AM
You have interesting ideas..

So it's stock with only straight pipes and an intake? That's not going to knock off 1.7 sec to hang with an LT1 Camaro. Let alone 2.3 to hang with a 05 GT.

I said post your mods, not post what you COULD get. That's like saying "my car is faster than yours because I could go get a turbo on it... I just dont have the money"

Dude this is stupid why are you even arguing about this with me in this thread. I don't need to sit here and prove this to you, come by some time and I'll take you for a ride, maybe we can find a Mustang on the road and race it.

If your serious about a thunderbird go with the super coupe (sc) dude they have a supercharged 6 at theyre posi trac. PLenty of power and unlike turbo coupe you dont have to wait for the turbo to spool the power is there right now. Also they came with pimp interior and ground effects.

Evidently having ''your uncle'' retune it, striaght pipes, and intake magically knocks off over 2 seconds in a quarter mile.

I'll stick to my suggestion of a 5.0 stang or a 94-95 z28/trans am. I think you'll top about any other car you can get in the price range with cheap and modifications.

I'll second the Lincoln Mark Series- with a free flowing exhaust and intake, they can throw 310+ horsepower. I had one and loved it, pimp from stock... They have mods available, look for mid 90's 4.6 Mustang Cobra parts- cams intakes the whole works.

Plus nobody expects them to be fast.

the 5.0 in the non Fox body cars is a turd...i'd stay away...i'd much rather have an LT1 F-body

I expect the ones around here to be. Can't help but think something is up when they're running around with a high stall and exhaust.

Look for an Chevy S-10 with a blown motor. They are easy to find, however one with out cancer might be tougher. Then drop a small block for your choice in there. Probably one that is carburated, wiring for fuel injection gets tricky. Instant ground pounder. They are super light and have enough room for a big block even.

You could do a 300 with a v8 for a whole lot cheaper, and it might even get you to work on a consistant basis :D

And ^^^^^^^^ What about an rx-7? They're pretty decent cars. They're good for small block swaps, too.

But all in all, there's probably a reason why the japanese car manufacturers backed off on all the nuts-o sports cars as of late.

They're all heavy as hell, expensive to maintain, and not very reliable.

The skyline and the NSX are the sole survivors, and they're the 2 most expensive.

I hear these cars have bad head gasket problems but I have looked at them considerably nonetheless
