View Full Version : Did i screw up?

Well im making a box and the front is double baffled i was going to wait and cut the holes after i put it all togheter and now its **** near impossible to cut? Any ideas and also what bit do you use to cut a circle out? Ill get some pics asap.

im assumeing your useing a jib saw to cut out the hole? yeah its gonna be tough get a new blade one that cuts on both the and the down stroke.

you will just have to take your time. Next time you will know to cut it first. ;)

I think the cutout should always be cut before gluing/screwing one the front piece. just in case you mess up on the cutout you can just use another piece.

i always cut mine out after the ive built the box.

Its a shame this box is sweet though. I wish i knew how to use a router so much easier. anyways. Ill have some pics up easily the best box ive built.

^^ sure you can. you if its a plunge router you set the depth just a hair less than the thickness of your wood.and then just knock it out. it done right it wont "break away" the mdf

router and circle jig > jig saw. but they both get the job done :)

Yeah i dont have a clue what bit to use and where can you get a circle jig at?

cant really use a router once the baffel is attached anyway :)

i made my own jig out of 1/4" plexi glass
parts express sells a jig. i think its made by a compny called jasper something or another.

yes, jasper jig, that thing is WELL worth the price. Im on my 2nd one.

a good bit to get would be a 1/4" strait cut bit 3/4 to 1" long

I have a bosch router? Is that any good and i have a bunch of bits but no clue what they do? I jsut found them in my grandpas wood shop.

if you are going to use a router make sure you do a few practies pices. and make sure the pice you are working on is clapped down.
