View Full Version : Box cracked today

So yeah today I was using my subs are usual and then my friend asked me to open the tailgate door and play some music to see how much air the ports let out. I did and started playing "soul survivor" (young jeezy) and then all of a sudden we started hearing a nasty cracking noise coming from the back part of the box (where the ports are) I was like wtf. So me and him pushed the box in just to see what would happen and the cracking noise stopped. As soon as we let it go it kept on.

I couldn't tell because I have it carpeted but I know for a fact its cracked. Looks like this box is either going to go flying off the Florida turnpike this week or burned:naughty:

Now I have to build a new box and I need better support. I was running four 15" L7s off an orion 2500d! Thank god I wasn't running the two D5000s or things could have gotten a lot worse.

Req is right. You can basically use MDF dust as sand when you want to put out a fire, it really burns like ***. I assume it's the glue?

And rai, it's not like anyone (cough 50 people) told you that the bracing was worthless.

If you somehow manage to get the MDF to burn, it'll smell like utter ****.

Second, you **** at building boxes.I could've told you it was a ****** box in the other thread, none of your cuts were straight or **** even the same height.

Somehow, I knew you were too stupid to even attempt a set-up of this proportion.

$10 says he blows either one of the amps, or a sub within a month.Or the first day of installation  any takers?

MDF craking from the vibrations. I doubt it. Pull it apart and take some pics. I'de go as far to say it's not cracking, unless it already was damaged from the start or during installation.

So you're going to build another box with barely any bracing at all. You might not need the braces if you knew how to cut a straight line.

Pyro_By_Nature
04-12-2006, 12:21 PM
Probably panels rattling against each other, liquid nails seem filling the gaps probably cracked.

Just doubling everything up won't help you at all really.Highly overrated.PROPER bracing is MUCH more effictive than just adding another layer of MDF.

Box I drew up in like 5 minutes - subs up (double baffle if you will) 4 Aeros per chamber at the bottom of the box - Thicker braces routered out the corners for flow. Use Tite Bond and do it right!

Painted it a color you should like as well!

Thanks for the pic pop da hatch...Im going to use two 6" ports instead of the 4" ports.

The four inch ports dont fit on the bottom of the box like that. Thats how I originally wanted to put them.

No offence man but between the HID installation, the audio install and the crap about you being Chinny's boy, you got some issues on here.Ive built other boxes before and they are all still going strong today.

The HID installation was weird because my low beams were fine and then my foglights went out and I installed both of them by myself. So I was like wtf. Then the fuse box was inside the car and everybody was *****ing at me that it wasn't and then when I took it to the shop they replaced the fuse inside the car!

Being chinny's friend is just dumb that people dislike me for that.
