Doesnt look like its wrapped too well....looks like a large wrinkle above the left sub. Bottom right doesnt look like it sits flush, and what are the trim pieces at the top for?

I would have shortened the depth and made it longer to try and reach both wheel wells. but it looks nice. Great 1st timer job.

x2, he asked for input and when you give him your opinion he gets mad. I agree with everything you said. Heres another opinion from a Ga Boy, it doesnt look to good to me but perhaps it will sound ok. Atleast you tried and maybe next time it will look better. Like the dog though.

tapout, shut the **** up. Try to vinyl something with sharp edges and protrusions before speaking. It isn't easy. I know this because I've done it.

squeak12

No one said it was easy. We our just stating our opinions which he asked for. Its more criticism than bashing. We just stated what we though about his box. If cant handle it, then he shouldnt post it on a public forum and ask for comments.

good thing we dont have the rep system anymore or you would've -repped me and tried to ruin my E-image huh? :D In all seriousness, he ASKED for the opinions. I'm sure it is hard but if you notice my post I give him props for trying. I mean, after all hes only 15.

Came out good but I read that you currently do not have an amp. I say take the sub/box out of the car and leave it in your room or some where safer until you get every thing to connect it.

Id like to know what those trim peieces on the top are for. Look like rubber feet or sumthing like you put them on the top instead of the bottom. Overall thogh its a good box but you def should have went ported.

i didnt have a rabbiting bit nora router so it is the edges of the vinyl so i covered it up with trim pieces and i didnt go ported because i would need room in a trunk of a car

Not to bad. I have seen and done worse. :) Not to be a "e-****" or anything. But large flat enclosures like that are about the easiest thing to wrap. Try wrapping some kicks :)

this is where the age comes into play. He cant even tell when someone is taking up for him.lol.
I thought to myself, all day while at work mind you, that maybe I was being hard on the little guy. So I come back to check it again and I really inspect it and heres my true assessment....

1)Cant really determine the quality of the box itself because there are no pics of the build.
2)the vinyl really doesnt look that good. Sure it may have been hard but maybe you should've tried carpet first.
3)You bought the type R's so you should know the need to be ported to get their full potential. Since you weren't going to port maybe you should've bought subs that didnt need ported.
4) If you're happy thats all that really counts. BUT, if you post on a forum and ask for opinions don't expect everyone to be courteous. It's an opinion for crying out loud and you shouldn't want to e-fight just because you dont get the responses you want.

:crap: Another box build thread gone down with more argumenting. Anyways, where did you get the vinyl and how much did it cost? Also, checkout the automotive section if you have a nearby walmart. They have 2 linear yards of carpet for like 8-9 bucks, not too bad of a price.

Also would anyone by chance have any links to a 'vinyl tutorial' thread.

Give the guy a break, and be a little easier on the criticism. It's nice to give him pointers, but a new guy doesn't need bashing when he's still learning. Atleast he's working on it instead of buying a prefab or something.

There's part of the problem my brother. I absolutely hate the vinyl they sell at jo anns with a passion. The crap barely stretches at all ( stretch is a needed thing for us ) Did you use a heat gun or a hair dryer ? What kind of glue did you use ? :)

Like someone else said, I agree with pv on this one.

There are many alternatives to saying "it looks like ****" (which it doesn't look all that bad).Such as, "looks good, but the vinyl could've been a little tighter".

Either way, it does look pretty good, perfect? No.But you know what they say, practice makes perfect :)

hair dryer is no good for vinyl...get a good heat gun and some good glue and a cold/wet cloth and you're good to go. practice makes perfect :)
