a place to screw down your amp and match the carpet to your box, thats why i did it.
edit - and my stock floor board wouldn't hold up the weight of my 75 pound box

We put one Type R under the false floor and the two Alpine amps. It saved us a lot of room and sounded very nice.
Sorry about the crappy pics.:D

right...everything that was in the trunk is still there now, thats why it sits a little high. Like I said, rush job, that was done in 8 or so hours.

I bet you could 4th order an 8" in a trunk, with a small amp (think mmats, perhaps) and you could have a decent little thump and no one would know you had a system. You could even put stuff on top of it. (except where the port fires up)
If I could get my trunk leakproof it may be an idea.

didnt want to make a new thread, what wood do you guys use as a base? i got a sheet on 1/2" plywood that only needs a little trimming, but it seems generally flimsy? its ALOT stronger than the factory board though. what do you guys use?

No thats lino, glued it to underlayment wood and then I have supports at each corner and in the middle so it doesn't warp. I work at tontine carpet one and it's free, so I figured why not.

Mine's not as nice as some of these guy's, but it works. The flash on the camera seems to make the wiring more noticeable than it is...but, everything covered with tech-flex and heat shrink. Excpet for the power wires. ;)

what version of SPL drivers are those? i know people hate on SPL woofers, but the ones i had (black cone, silver SPL logo) was 10" 1000w RMS, weighed close to 50lbs. never got it metered, but it got crazy loud. i have no clue which ones they were tho. i got it from a friend who had just re did his whole install and i was subless, so he gave it to me.
