Ok I have a stock system. Im not sure what HU or 6*9's they are but I want to replace them. There are 4 6*9's and I want to know if it would be good to amp them. I am going to probably have to build the bank up a bit after so I want some good sound(I LOVE BASS). So any info or suggestions would be appreciated.

You could amp them if you like, they will deffinetally sound better than with the HU. If you love bass, you will need to add a sub.

You are like me, I like to do my front staging before I even add any sub/subs. Do you know what kind of 6x9's they are?

I have 4 Pioneer 4x6 4-ways in my car and they sounded great of my Pioneer HU. I did amp them and they sound way cleaner than off the HU power.

Yep, those are like mine. I have always liked the way Pioneer headunits and speakers sound, I dont know why.

so in your opinion amping them worth 100 for a 4 ch amp and hooking up? i like this one http://www.millionbuy.com/bosgt780.html

If you want cleaner sound, then yes I would amp them. That might be to much power, you will have to find out what kind of speaker they are and their recommended power before buying an amp. To much power you will fry them.

So the RMS power handling is 100watts then. Dont ever listen to the peak power rating. Mine are 50watts RMS and 260watts peak and with the 50watts I am giving them they sound great. Know that the power from the HU is nowhere near what it says it puts out.

sorry to thread jack but sort of on the topic, how would i find out the rms on my accord's stock speakers? also for what you said up there, if you get an amp with too much power can't you just keep the gains low? or would it still hurt the speakers

My 2000 Accord's speakers were 15W RMS. I'm not sure they'd really be worth buying an amp for, but an HU amp won't blow them.

ya its 15watts i remember mine also...with decent stock speakers...just add an aftermarket HU and ull see HUGE difference +lot more potential comin' off the speaker...:)

Yeah adding an HU did make them sound a lot better (still sounded pretty terrible). I definitely wouldn't bother with an amp for the stocks.

what about non stock speakers?
