View Full Version : Could I fit three 15" L7s in this box?

OK I measured my car again to make sure I was correct the first time and yes I do have 48"W to work with. I was wondering with that amount of space could I be able to fit three 15" L7s? I been thinking about it and I don't think I could. I know three 15"s equals to 45"W but I doubt I could do it due to the 3/4 wood.

Also wanted it to be CRX style.

I dont think you would have enough wood left over to mount the subs on but I could be wrong. Thats cutting it really close. Find out the actual mounting length and add that up, plus a lil space between each sub.

Mounting width is ~14" x 3 = 42"

I know nothing :(

80Are you sure? I am going to put chambers in between each sub, so there will be three chambers, not one big one.

No it won't.

There will be no **** space for you to mount the screws... for them to grip.

Do them in a triangle style ;)...

Yes, it will still fit. The wood is not going to hurt anything since the mounting lips are nearly 3/4" wide. They can overlap the wood. If you're worried about screwing into the wood and having it split, pre-drill it first. You'll have 15" width in all chambers, so I doubt the screws will even penetrate the chamber walls/sides.

maybe make the box a little deeper and run the subs staggered? you could rotate them 45 degrees and put them a little closer, kind of like a triangle .
i have no clue if this will work.

no, make a V with them.

1 - 8'' flared aero per sub ftw.

exactly, thats what i was trying to say.
position them so they kind of look like the mitsubishi logo, except have them all facing the same way.

Hmmm dammn...This is hard. Some people say it will some say no. Damm...I don't mind doing it CRX style (subs up port towards the rear) like a triangle or upside down V, as suggested, if it could actually work.

It will fit.

You have 48".

There will be four pieces of MDF along that 48". The two sides and the two pieces which separate the box into three chambers.

So, you have 45" left. (3/4" x 4)

If they're spaced equally, that's 15" of open space per chamber. The cutout is 14".

The screws on the subs may go through the chamber separators or the sides of the box. I don't know since I'm not familiar with where the mounting holes are on the L7's. If it's an issue, pre-drill it so the wood doesn't split. I've never even worried about that.

Should be close...prolly end up splitting the wood though :crap: Id assume the total width of the sub is prolly more like 15.5-16" not 15"....could be wrong though.

Forgot I had a 15L7 basket in the closet.

It measures 15 5/8" which I'm guessing is still the same.

The holes measure 14 3/4" apart.

That will fit easily.

That will fit easily. Thanks but that wouldn't really fit then. If the basket measures 15 5/8" would be too close to 48". Not to mention the chambers would be almost another 2". I think im staying with two....if UPS ever decides to bring them:crap:
