Don't know if anyone has put up pictures of one yet but I got mine today and figured I would. This is the first HU I ever ordered from Crutchfield and it was a real treat. I got it next day with everything to install it and free shipping. Might also point out that the help making a decision talking to the people at Eclipse was great. In my little test of Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood and Eclipse.... the Eclipse people are top dogs. This unit is different in-hand than the pics on-line make it out. I absolutely love the looks of it. Looks like a well constructed unit almost too nice to ride in my dash. Nice thick manual on how to work it and if it plays anything like it looks when I get it in tomorrow I will be jazzed even though I was a diehard Pioneer man I may never go back :naughty:

If you have an e-mail I have those pics in bigger sizes. I will take some more tomorrow and with it lit up at night using the different colors.

Ding Ding! That is the whole reason I bought it. Your car have all orange illumination? My Civic does so after talking to Eclipse on the phone all the keys and areas around the knobs will go amber or red. The only part that will be different colors is the display text. I can live with that! I will have more pics including lit up tomorrow night. I will just slam them on my site so we can have larger pics to look at.

Thanks for the great comments!

Anyone reading this that may have the older style Eclipse units...

I am working on the wiring bundle as I type and have extra wires. These are the ones I have with no home:

Eclipse wiring bundle

- Blue (has metal connector on it) Antenna?
- Blue/White (has metal connector on it) Antenna?
- Brown Extra speaker set?
- Brown/Black Extra speaker set?

Honda adapter bundle

- Blue Antenna?
- Orange/White Says dimmer on the sheet. Have the same color wire coming out of the Eclipse bundle. Do I use it?
- Orange Says illumination on the sheet. Don't have a pair for it on the Eclipse bundle.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

The HU should also have an orange for illumination, connect this to the ill on the harness for your car.

Blue matches with blue on both harness.

Do you knwo if that hu will illuminate orange/red?

Illumination: During normal operations, the main display is on and the Disc, AM/FM, Sound, and Display buttons and the rings on the Audio Control and Select dials are illuminated. When the vehicle's lights are turned on, the CD Eject, Mute, Return, Power, up/down and the 6 preset buttons are illuminated as well. The orange/white wire in the unit's harness must be connected to the vehicle's headlight circuit in order for the additional buttons to illuminate when the lights are turned on. You can select one of five button illumination combinations: Blue/Red, Blue/Green, Blue/Amber, All Red, or All Amber.

Orange/White coming out of the Eclipse bundle is illumination. I guess that goes to the headlights then. Still I have Orange and Orange/White coming out of the Honda adapter.

Orange on your harness that connects to the factory wiring plug goes to the orange/white on the Eclipse harness. No need to search for other wires in the car.

So the Orange/White in the Honda adapter for dimmer doesn't get used. Wonder what they put it in there for then? Thanks for your help!

Nice intercooler. Good pick up but i think if you probably could have saved yourself some money and bought the 8445 online for like $300 but if warranty and what not was important to you then CD5000 is a solid pick up. Looks pretty much the same as last years HUs but knobs seem a bit different.

the CD5000 is the basically the same thing as the 8445 so to answer your question no.

Did the 8445 have the GPS feature? Where would you find it.... E-Bay?

It is kind of nice having the warranty, everything to put it in and free shippining.

Looks like they go pretty good still on E-Bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Eclipse-8455-CD-Deck-8v-preouts_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38646QQitemZ804 0865396QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I guess their is some interest in this. Here are some pics from this morning since I didn't get any totally dark one last night. Eclipse was a little off on their colors. An orange/orange doesn't exist which would have been perfect for me. For people like myself with orange gauges you basically have two choices... orange keys with blue around the knobs or red keys with red around the knobs. The red gauge guys have it made because red/red is an option and that is the one I am using. Last two pictures show these two combos. On key power only the knob area and display light up. When you turn the lights on the keys light up. Still have to go through and set up everything like the clock, balance, etc... but here is some of the color setups:

IIRC, the CD5000 has 5 pattern illumination, which doesn't include all-amber. The CD7000 has 6 pattern, the extra option being all-amber. I'm pretty sure that's what Eclipse's website says.

Eclipse is always behind a bit with "gadgets". Thier primary focus is a solid built product first, accessories are always secondary.

I don't see why they would have to sacrifice quality by adding Bluetooth. I mean there are really no major changes in their line-up from last year in terms of the build quality so why not add something like BT. Ughh. Oh well I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too with eclipse.

Any manufacturer could put EVERYTHING in a deck. It is a matter of how much you put in at a given pricepoint.

If you're worried about warranties on the 8445's on ebay, you can buy a 3 year extended warranty for about $28.00. I don't know how they are about filling claims if you have a problem because I've never bought one but seems to be a reaspnable price for someone that is worried about warranties
