I have a pair of CDT EF-61 components that i'm running actively off of a jl 300/4.

I have two options and needed opinions on both.

My first option is to run the amp in four channel mode and send 75 watts to each driver. (2 channels for the mids, 2 for the tweets).

My second option is to run the amp in 2 channel bridged mode and send 150 watts to each crossover (and run a passive set up). With two available channels, i'd be forced to put my crossover back in for the tweets.

I've heard that the CDT's will shine if given enough power. The component set is rated at 120 watts rms, but the midrange drivers by themselves are rated at 70 watts rms.

What to do?

try both if you really want, but i'd go passive

a lot of people really like their CDT's w/ 150+watts...a decent amount w/ 200+, if you're really really set on going active, run all four, but for me i'd keep the xovers (they were made for those specific drivers, and should perform just as well as an active setup unless your car just as redic acoustics) and give those cdt's all they can handle and let em scream.....set your gains right an you shouldn't have problems w/ the power

That's what i figured. My original plan was to go passive and bridge the channels, but I was too lazy to throw in the crossovers when i installed the amp, so i hooked it up and ran it in 4 channel mode and surprisingly the 75 watts from the JL sounded MUCH louder, cleaner, crisper, and just better than the 90 watts that I was getting from my Soundstream XTA720.4. I was satisfied with my setup, but i've been thinking that a little more power will sound a lot better. I'll probably try that out tonight and see how it sounds.

Hey.,

I run the EF-61s with the 560 satnet xovers and DRT-25 tweets on a JL 300/4 bridged... It's really really good. Very powerful sound, controlled upper end. I'd recommend this setting anyday. 75w - and they sound weak :)

the 560 crossover will definitely help out and so will the DRT-25.

Run them bridged w/ the passive IMO.
