i was wondering if i would get more of a gain having my type r's facing up with port back (meade style) rather than having subs and port facing the hatch...box is 4cf tuned to 30 hz in a 88 2dr s15 jimmy

i just made a new box for my xxx18 and its in the hatch of my tiburon, sub and port are on the same side. i tried facing forward, back, and to the passengers side, the loudest has been to the side

That is called a CRX box, and yes you'll probably gain numbers on a meter, but not audibly.

meter is what counts to me anyways, thx. any ideas on what my setup should hit... hifon. bx2005d, type r's, and this box in an 88 s15 jimmy.

Not to be an *** or anything, but there are WAY too many variables to say what numbers a system will hit. If you read the sticky in the subwoofer section, it says not to ask what kind of numbers you will get. This is kinda a pet peeve for me. Just letting you know.
