but how does it sound?
As good as it looks..
The top end of this unit is the shiznit! Just amazing sound out of the box, w/out tone controls- separation and detail went north coming from the Eclipse CD8455, I noticed a hint of warmth out of the midrange and vocals but still retains the graininess of the voice -my buddy describes the vocals to have a noticeable 'push and pull' sound to the vocals that did not exist before.
The low end- you can hear a spatial quality around the instruments that was not there before, specially the drums and snares ...that how i'd describe it, space between them.
All these things resulted in a deeper soundstage. I had been driving with the Eclipse set on flat for weeks, so I mean you play those reference tracks over and over and you listen for those cues- when you hear differences its readily apparent.
Was the Eclipse bad? No. I just never used a HU this good before. So theres a reason why this bad boy costs what it does.
Cons? It HATES scratched CD's! I hadnt heard a cd skip in 3yrs running Eclipse decks.

WOW.:wow:
That is an absolute thing of beauty. I was skeptical on how it would look in your car but now that I've seen pics of it I have to say I'm impressed and jealous as hell.
So on your system diagram I was wondering are you powering the mids and tweets with one amp?? Hard to tell by the diagram.

Thank man..
I got the 4ch (xxk4150 4 x 85) driving tweeters and midranges
I got a xxk2500 (270 x 2) for midbass duty
I got a xxk2500(525 x 2) for sub duty
This thing has 2 full range preouts... Front channs going to an arc idx (3way tweeters/midbasess/subs) , and Rear channels on an Autotek Xover bandpassing my midranges.
All xover only for the meantime, until I pony up for a processor to feed it through analog inputs to keep the tube in the signal path.

It's there as a buffer stage....basically, it's there intentially to add a "tube" sound.

I 'think' it retails for like $1100--1200, but this in the one and only place you can get them, actually at a cheaper price...they are JDM importers..

nah, i wont support 4way active like i'd want it to...so I'm going with a separate components to achieve those goals. An SQ head feeding a processor via analog..
