What are your opinions on tcabs type r boxes. I read somewhere that thats his specialty and I have a friend who is considering putting his 2 12" type r's in a tcab. he needs some basic info on all this. thanks.

expensive boxes and the ones sold are not the 151dB wonder he had. If you wantch that video that was external aeroports not what everyone that has bought one has gotten. They are good construction but not anything that couldnt be designed by someone that know what they are doing. Pete with toxic bass seems to know alot about box design too.

Two things:

1. 300 dollars is ****ing nuts for an enclosure. It had better come with a free sack of Colombian grade cocaine that I can sell.

2. 150 decibels..people say that they want loud, but not many realize just how loud that is. You wouldn't listen to 150 dbs daily anyway (unless that is what you like to do), so why get more than what you want?

BUT, if I do #1 (pay 300 for an enclosure) then #2 BETTER come with it.

Naturally. 100% install dependent, so I don't know if it's possible to guarantee a 8 decibel gain.

JimJ
02-15-2006, 09:47 PM
$300 isn't bad for a set of Kleinhorns :) I'd gladly pay that ;)

But for anything short of that...eh

But I cannot complain about Potts. He's making money, he's smart, and he doesn't care what everyone else thinks.

nVRuckus
02-15-2006, 09:59 PM
now dont misquote he said 142-150 which means anywhere in between. Now 142 in a hatch my Memphis prs in my custom box will hit with 500 watts. anything over 143 is totally install dependent. Now if it was 142 minimum for a trunk install then thats a different story.

154.7 in the kick
153ish on the dash, car sealed up
153.3 at the HEADREST (!!!!)

all @ 36 hz IIRC.

with the 2 12's and a 2500d.

He did some stuff with some 15's but couldn't get it loud enough to be worth it (got up to a 157ish IIRC).

Chevyaudio
02-15-2006, 11:55 PM
Me personally I would never pay 300 for a box, mainly because that is half the fun in Car Audio, building your own enclosures. There is nothing like staying up all night keeping the neighbors up with a table saw and a router. but I cant deny marks boxes are loud....but does that mean that you cannot build a box just as loud, no. If you have a well laid out plan, and good skills with tools, you yourself can make a box for around 50 bucks that will get just as loud.

Ctminime

If you get a plain (uncarpeted, painted, etc.) box without aeroports i'm sure he could do something for a bit cheaper.

Send him an email and find out.

you'd be surprised how easy 142 dB's is nowadays, even with a stock electrical system.

Efficient box+good subs+good amp=nice scores.

You also have to remember that these are MECA style numbers (in the kick)

and when i get my other se12 up and running i should be in the low to mid 140's
and i havent tuned anything yet:up2somet:

149.0 at the headrest
126+ in driveby. I f*cked up my driveby run during finals.
