It's from a for sale thread on a different site. I'm interested in buying it but I have no idea what the model was, I was hoping it was a 79**, or at least something better then mine (9831).

So now the question is which is a better deck? The 9893 or the 9831? Does the 9893 play MP3's?

The 9831 is hands down a better deck. I owned the 7894 (one step up from the 7893) and it was a good unit...but the 9831 is better.

7893 does not have mp3. My 7894 took a bit to load mp3 CD's...I'd say it's about on par or a little more than my 9835. But navigation b/w songs once the CD is loaded, the 983x series wins hands down.
