I voted Pioneer Rev's because i've never heard any of them, i just wanted to be the second person to vote

Hehe actually i've heard the pioneer rev coaxial's and they're pretty sweet so id have to assume their components would be nice too. I also noticed u didnt have boston acoustics on the list and id have to recomend them too. You can find the BA SX60's at millionbuy.com for $169. I also checked the Rev's and they are also $169 there.

Those are all pretty mediocre.

You can score Alpine Type-X's for about $180-$200. A world of a difference better sounding than what you have listed. I've seen JL XR's go for about that price as well.

does it really matter?

Not too much -- unless you care to research.

You can buy the same drivers from the EF series for A LOT less, but you would have to wire them actively.

And even then, they're still simply mediocre.

CDT's are known for their sonic signature which a lot of audiophiles don't particulary like...

The ef cdt drivers are not even vifa drivers. Only the hd and es are closer matches to the vifa drivers. also the alpine type x's those are vifa drivers.

I see the kickers are winning the poll, are those the best out of those? I know these aren't the best but thats all i got for they money. It actually more like under $160 but whatever. I dont really know much about the Boston Acoustics, DA's, or CDT's so i dont really know which ones are good and i always thought they were to expensive. I would get the Alpine Type-X's like you guys suggested but the cheapest i can find them is like $205.

I didnt vote. I personally think if you are waniting to do it right and not want to change, you should save up some more money and buy a nicer set.

IMO they still lack MB in a sealed or ported kick envirnment. I have seen and used better for the money.

Oh and not to mention that the tweets are harsh as funk.

Destruction- Out of the type r's and the kicker res., which ones did you like better? I've been hearing alot of good about the Pioneer Rev's and i was thinking about giving them a try. I really dont want to save up and spend more than 160 on these components b/c i have about 270 for components and an amp.

I've heard the Type S, R, and X and also the infiniti kappa's and i like the X's and the Kappa's the best. I mean i listen to rap and rock only so i really dont need the best of the best just something to be loud enough to get over these loud as **** DD's i have!:naughty:

i would go type R over the kickers

Still dont know which ones to go with. I need more feedback b/c i want to get the best possible ones. Im thinkin i may just go with the PG X6.5 b/c i've heard nothing but good things about them. How do they compare to the Type R's and the Pioneer Rev's and all the others?

I have the pg xenons, and the sound great. I have had them for a while, and I just recently tweaked my eq, and crossed them over lower, and wow they sound amazing. Definately worth every penny, and you will be suprised how good they sound for the cheap price they go for. The zrs you have listed have better midbass, but the midrange, and overall sq isnt as good. They are both good sets though.

JL XR, Diamond D6, and Alpine Type X can be had within 25-30 bucks more than any of these

A guy has a BNIB set of X's fs on the forums. It's worth spending that 30 bucks, in my honest opinion.

I was reading all of your suggestions and I was looking for something really SQL.

would the Pioneer Rev's be better than the PG x6.5's? Or will one of the last 3 comps suggested be quite loud at 75rms? I have a HU tht does 50x4, which I hear that that's probably the max rating, and most HU's never live up to sending thatamount of wattage.. if thats the case, I wouldnt mind the JL XRs

pcnbaseball44

If you get components you def. need to amp them. You headunit is nowhere near what it should be.

christiankills
02-10-2006, 11:13 PM
thats what i was planning on doing. Just curious on exactly how loud 75 watt rms is.

Raven
02-11-2006, 01:41 PM
Most normal comp sets will get too loud for the average listener (IE, drive them out of the vehicle) off ~33 real watts. It's the overhead and improved SQ that we get by amping them that makes us do it, IMO.

Also, i recommend Oz Audio Vectors and Rainbow Dreamlines. Both are in your price range and devilishly good comp sets. >=)

i was wondering the same about the revs and pg's

audiolife

how will you install these? sealed ib or what? getting the "best" never the less bang for your buck means more than just branding speakers. if you want a simple drop in that sounds good without much added work i second the syncs. you talk to tech support about your application and do as they tell you (and know you are doing it right lol) its a tough set to not be happy with.

so would you pick the Rainbow Dreamlines over the JL XRs? The XR's are somewhat pricy, i'm still really deciding on what comps to get.

Do you have a site/specs/dealer for the dreamlines?
