A few I quickly snapped today just to let those who wanted to see...pardon the poor quality - I just bought a brand-new digicam and it doesn't at all work like the last one I had so I have to get used to it....

Just as I opened the door the wind picked up and blew dust EVERYWHERE all over the inside of my car. Now I get to detail it this afternoon :crap:

Ahh kenwood. My first 3 head units. Amazing under appreciated pieces of equipment. My very first aftermarket deck (back in '89) was a Coustic which I burned up by hooking entirely too many speakers up to it and (now I know but didn't back then) dropping some minute fraction of an Ohm load on it.

I bought a Blaupunkt unit after that which burned itself up. After the 3rd Blau in a row (warranty replacements) did the exact same thing I bought a Kenwood.

Haven't owned a different brand of head unit since.

I thought Kenwood accepted XM radio as well.

Ill add pics to my post or email them to anyone interested. You need somewhere to host them first - then once you've uploaded your pics to the hosting service you remote link to them in your post(s) here on the forum.

I know there are more but the most commonly used services (I think) here by forum members (those that do not have dedicated hosting services or their own server space to do it with) are:

It hits well? I grabbed the first CD in my visor holder and that happened to be the one it was. *shrug*

I love my XXV-01D too!

I had a Excelon KDC-x969 before this, and the XXV-01D blows that out of the water!

It's nice to see a post from a fellow Kenwood lover!!

In an A-B comparo with the KDC-X679 it replaced all I can say is...well, there is no comparison, really. Not that I am knocking the X679 - it's without a doubt a solid unit and I was completely happy with it during the year and a half+ that I ran it.

The XXV-01D is simply in a different class altogether.

I've never owned a HU with DTA before now - what an awesome tweaking option! I reckon I'll never buy another deck without it.

It sounds just as killer as it looks - and I can say pretty definitively that it isn't a case of psycho-acoustics stemming from getting new gear, Everyone that has ridden in my car over he past couple of weeks has remarked on how much better it sounds (after the inevitable comments about the color screen :up2somet: )

hey XXV-01D owners
Is there a wired remote connection on this unit?
or will i need to get a wireless interface for my Steering wheel controls?

I cannot be certain as it isn't something I have ever investigated but I do not think there is a wired remote option. Just the wireless remote that comes with it (or any other Kenwood mobile audio remote will work as well - I still use the credit card-type flat remote I got with a KRC-608 tape deck I bought several years ago 'cause it's easy to shove between my visor and my visor CD holder :D

Good looking unit. I haven't seriously looked at Kenwood for a number of years until today. It looks to have very good specs, right up there with Alpine and Pioneer.

I do have some questions. Everywhere I've looked, website advertises 24-Bit DACs but only on Kenwood's site does it specifically notates that it's Burr-Brown. That's pretty good stuff. I only seen Burr-Browns in Pioneer Premier, Clarion DRZ, and Eclipse 8v models. Also, does this unit support both Sirius and XM? The faceplate says only Sirius but Crutchfield's site shows both (nothing on Kenwood's site though). It's short on 3-way active and just 4 band PEQ, but it's impressive nonetheless.

Hey Prowler, why are you selling yours and what's coming next?

I do not know if it is XM-compatible in addition to Sirius. I've never investigated getting sat. radio so ease of installation/operation with either isn't a big deal to me.

I'm not selling mine ~ surleman is selling his. I only got the one I have the 24th of Dec. and I don't foresee changing head units again for awhile. For me it was an upgrade from an '04 KDC-X679.

Nice HU but Geo sux

Interesting username ya got there. I'll give you the other $0.40 so you'll have an even dollar if you'll STFU and keep your negative and uninvited commentary to yourself. I'm on a very strict budget as overseas travel is somewhat of a necessity for me on occasion so I drive a car that was both cheap to acquire and cheap to maintain. I'll agree with you that both the Metro and the Tracker models (which were a rebadged Suzuki and an Isuzu, respectively) left much to be desired. However, the Prizm is mechanically a Toyota Corolla - which just so happens to be the Guiness Book of World Records-certified best selling car on the planet. Reckon Toyota would have earned that record by building garbage?

Thanks for playing, 'Tard :D
