I have been searching for components forever, and was about to get the Boston Pro 60's, then decided on the MB Quart Premiums, and now I have run into something I feel I CANNOT pass up...I have seen the Kenwood 25th anniversary components for sale, but didn't pay much attention as they were Kenwood and also $1,000 per set...At my local electronics store, they have the same set for $400....Is that a steal? Should I get them as soon as possible?..Any thoughts on Kenwood or those speakers would be awesome since I need to know quickly...Thank you so much!

Big discount from a high price tag still doesn't mean they'll sound any good....LOL

I haven't heard them, so I can't comment.......but just because they MSRP for $1000 doesn't mean they're actually any better than comps more than half that price. Hell, look at those Zapco components that MSRP'd for around $1k, and got horrible reviews by CA&E.

Though it's been a while since I've been impressed by any of Kenwoods offerings........

i always check ebay just to compare prices. and yes just because it retails so high doesn't equal to optimum performance. many places do this as a marketing scheme. no one these days sell things at retail, they just say retail to make "their" price look better.
