OK, well some people have asked me about Tang Band 6.5 subwoofers, model # W6-1139SG. These are very potent little 6.5s and easily comparable to the JL 6W0. I actually thought in the install it was in was better than the JL 6W0 i owned. So how many would be interested in a group buy? Minimum TOTAL order of drivers would be 10 drivers, but the even cheaper price would be for a total of 100 drivers, the exact price(s) has not been determined as i need to figure in shipping and paypal fees. These can be used in either HT or car applications with good results.

Also i believe there is a 5.25 version coming out 1/6/06. This could also be added into the group buy.

ok if i can get 18+ drivers the price would be 30$ plus shipping, if 96+ it would be 27.50$ plus shipping. Under 18 total and i would have to figure out how much it would be plus shipping. Also someone showed me a 5.25 version expected for a launch date of 1/6/06, i could include this too, and i'll check tonight on pricing on it.

i just got my used tb 6.5 from regal1975 today. i put it in a .75 cubes @ 33Hz w/ 2" precision port, powered by a rythmik audio 150wrms @ 4 ohm plate amp. it's definitely a great sub and will definitely make a great sub for a mini ht or computer system. it easily has in-room response down to 25hz. i just started listening to it so i won't post a full review yet. if 18+ can be sold, $30 is a very nice price and i might get another.

btw, here are a couple pics:

would either one of those be too much for a front car door

alteraudiousa
12-23-2005, 09:37 PM
no it wont be too much for a front door. But these aren't full range they do have a limited range as they are meant for a 3rd woofer in a car setup and Ht setups can do well with them. Potent sub for space restrictions, small cabinet setups for HT use, rear fill in cars, etc.

Here's a link http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=264-832 for the specs.

saywhat?

Is this the 8in you guys are looking for?

well the speakers are for sure, the amps, well i think its like 15+ on the Dayton 70watt power plate amps,DAYTON SA70 70W SUBWOOFER AMPLIFIER, i could see about. But i want to make sure on the speakers first and then check into the amps.

the drivers give alot of midbass for their size. I think i did say i liked these better than the JL 6W0 that i had. These are impressive. Also heres what i'm leaning toward but not sure yet. I think buy will start in mid Jan giving everyone enough time to think about it and order by Feb14th.

ok well i've been doing some numbers, these aren't official but they will be pretty close. I need a total of 500$ worth ordered at once. All prices, these aren't official!!!, are assuming I get 500$ worth of an order.

W5-1138SA 5.25sub-(6+)=20.00each
W6-1139SG 6.5sub(6+)=30.00each
W8-740C 8in sub(6+)=43.00each, (24+)=37.00each

I can also get plate amps, prices are pending but here's something close.
DAYTON SA100 100W SUBWOOFER AMPLIFIER(5+)=68.00

These prices do not include shipping!!! I am leaning toward a flat shipping fee but haven't decided yet.

Also anything else anyone looking for?

boister77

since you are getting most of the stuff from pe, why not offer the precision ports :)

btw, if anyone is interested in rythmik audio plate amps. i can try to work out a group buy for their 150wrms @ 4 ohms plate. i might able to get them down to $55 an amp. it's the amp i'm using and i have pics posted above.

The amp- Small but mighty! This high performance amplifier module packs big-amp features into a compact chassis that is ideal for installation into cabinets that can't accommodate bulky old style amps. We made it small, but included everything that you need to connect the amp to your system and get maximum performance. Input/output connections are through your choice of either line level RCA connectors, or speaker level banana jacks. A stereo input signal is summed to mono and sent to the internal low pass crossover, which is selectable from 40 to 180 Hz, and the input gain sensitivity is fully adjustable as well. A phase reverse switch helps you to achieve the best acoustical match with the rest of your speakers, and an Auto On/Off switch keeps the amp standing by, waiting for an input signal to turn it on. A large surface area heatsink is combined with internal overload, thermal, and short circuit protection so that you can expect years of reliable operation.
Low distortion
Adjustable low pass crossover
High and low level inputs/outputs
Auto On/Off
Phase reversal switch.
75 watts RMS @ 8 ohms, 100 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
S/N Ratio: 90 dB (A-weighted)

Which daytons? Almost all aftermarket speakers will be too much for an unprepared door. The Tang bands just have a better low end than most other speakers will in a IB application. I would stick with these and not the daytons, but if you insist i can order the daytons for you.
