View Full Version : Regular Cab Bump?

Well I searched for small truck boxes and so forth and am not finding what i want. I'm trying to get some bump into a 1988 Chevy Cheyenne Reg Cab and there's literally not much room behind the seat.

I was thinking about doing a 10" ported and I saw some pics of boxes for standard cabs on this forum but can't find that again either. The prefab boxes I've heard are crap even with JL's which don't require much volume in the box.

Any suggestions or has anyone successfully got some good bass in a regular cab without cutting through the seat or putting the subs in the bed?

I have a 95 F-150 Regular cab, and there is NO room at all behind the seats, and NO ONE makes a special box for it. I had the "standard" truck box for 2 12"s behind my seat, but you had to scoot the seat up so far that it was uncomfortable to drive.

So now, I think my only options are 2 8" subs in the door panels, or switching from bench to bucket seats and making a custom center consol.

Or you could always just go with a good shallow mount sub, like the Pioneer! Their box they make for it actually looks good and is pretty shallow as well!

Good luck!

Here is the box for the shallow mount Pioneer:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4061_97957030_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_P roductDetailComponent

It is 6-3/8" deep.

if you have bucket seats it'd make it alot easier, you could invert as big as a 12inch woofer in it... (im about to put a 12inch diamond audio d3 (cm3) in mine like that and i have a ranger

i found some bump with 8x resonant engineering(http://reaudio.com/) re8"s in a sealed box. my 3x jl 10w3s did decent when i got them in a box with a small port out the side. 2x resonant engineering re12"s do great in a small ported box as well. all boxes were made by me, for my truck specifically.
if you want something prebuilt, this is the only promising looking thing i found:

Yeah, just looked around, and noticed that there are no vehicle specific boxes for your truck either!

The newer trucks have so much more room. A friend of mine has a newer reg cab dodge, and he has 2 RF 12"s sitting in decent sized boxes behind the bucket seats, and they fold all the way back!

I plan on doing the custom center consol and inverting a 10" near the head rests :D

I was thinking about a slanted box. I'm not a pro on boxes but since there's not much depth, could you make up the internal cu ft in height and width? I was thinking two 10's and a port in the middle or 1 10 and an amp on the other side. The depth is gonna screw up the bass response and I'm gonna have to get shallow woofers.

Do you still have that first box?

If so, are you willing to sell it?

What are the dimensions?

And just out of curiosity, what is the dimensions of the second box?

i thought about doing that with mine, so i could have power port area and legnth, to lower the tuning, but i dont like inverted subs...so i sacrificed port area and legnth

Try it out and tell us. Like i said I've never found a good prefab box for trucks let alone cars. My buddy had two 12 JL W6's in his reg cab Chevy and there was hardly any bass.

Does anyone know where to get some decent regular looking bucket seats for my truck? The cheapest option looks to be the universal racing seats, but they just wouldn't look right!

I like the look of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-New-Pair-of-Replacement-Car-Truck-Seats_W0QQitemZ8023758230QQcategoryZ33701QQssPageN ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They look more factory! But who makes them? Because those don't recline. Surely I can find some just like that, that recline??

they both sound good. i get higher numbers on the meter with the 8"s thought(146.xdb)

i trashed the first box during a recent move so i didn't have to transport it. the second box is something like 6"/8" x 17" x 54" (iirc) with a 1" tall rise in the middle of the box to clear a hump in my floor.

i'd more recommend things from their superbass lineup

not really. moe lester and a handfull of others on the forum are into building/shipping boxes or making cut sheets. you should try one of them.

Well dakotas have a little more room, and the box is not spanned from one side of the cab to the other, maybe like half of one seat to another if you get what i mean? And it sounds awome, buuutttt i have to wait for me to put a amp back in (orion 1200) when i get it hopefully this week. Andno i will not sell you my seats. i will probably get another box built to help me save some clicks, even though its perfect for me, not other people. When i get new front speakers and amp, so i can get rid of the 2 6x8's in the back.

Does any of this make sense to you lol
