JimJ

One thing...did you countersink the screwheads? They look like they're sitting on top, which will make carpeting a little more difficult.

Never let anyone tell you you build boxes like a girl, heh.

Jordantyler
12-14-2005, 12:02 AM
what do u mean countersink?.. hahaha

XtrmAudioCncpts
12-14-2005, 12:03 AM
what do u mean countersink?.. hahaha
ill take it that you didnt. go to home depot and buy a countersink bit for like 10 bucks or less and countersink it

JimJ
12-14-2005, 12:04 AM
They make countersinking bits designed for the purpose...basically making an angled hole for the screw to go into, so the head of the screw fits flush with the rest of the baffle. Pretty much required if you want a clean edge.

Jordantyler
12-14-2005, 12:06 AM
haha no i didnt countersink them..

XtrmAudioCncpts
12-14-2005, 12:06 AM
thanks jack my brains not working to explain what it does

saywhat?
12-14-2005, 12:07 AM
i was messin with you about that stuff bro, it looks really good to be honest. countersink bits just open up the wood so your screw head goes deeps, or even with the wood surface.

PatFitz9
12-14-2005, 12:51 AM
yeah, the countersinks will make everything flush. and who cares how it looks bare, that carpet will cover everything up. (i think carpeting is harder than the building)

lol its not a common thing for a female to attend the boards, so we all get used to saying he. then again, with all this homosexual tendencies there may be a few female "roles" being played here shortly.

saywhat?
12-14-2005, 01:58 AM

Nice work. I don't think carpeting will be that bad. Definately counter sink the screws for a cleaner edge. Know anybody with a router ? Could have them round over the edges of the enclosure and the port mouth for that custom look. :)

I don't like the finish of the Wal-mart carpet...I'd rather get the stuff from PE or another DIY speaker place...but I'm a picky bastard when it comes to things like that.

bimma85
12-15-2005, 08:17 PM

That's going in my sig lol..come on..asking a FORUM where in WALMART can you get carpet..its a STORE..

you get it in the automotive section i think or you just ask a person that works there (nearest walmart for me is like a half an hour away)....she was askin which section of the store to get the carpet.

ramos
12-16-2005, 08:54 AM
My local wally worlds don't carry automotive carpet anymore :( Luckily there are a couple of local fabric stores that sell it. When they did have it, it was in the automotive section with the floor mats and seat covers. :)
