View Full Version : new woofers came today....already damaged

Just got my new CDT ef-6cf's from djdilliodon on CAF. However, one of the woofers seems to have a slight cut in the surround. They are supposed to be brand new, and I dont expect they got damaged in shipping (the box is in good condition) He said he inspected them prior to shipment, and they were perfect. The cut is in such an area that it might be easy to over look if you werent looking for it.

The cut doesnt go all the way through the surround, I would venture to say its about 50% through it. Its about a quarter of an inch long. I guess my question is this.... what should I do about this? Should I attempt to put contact cement on it? Suggestions?

You could use flexible silicon sealer.

claim insurance on it. dont let them take them after the inspection, and see how it pans out.

it shouldnt affect performance at all, i bought my EF 6.5's from him and they had a lil hole through the surround also.

if i bought bnib, thats what id expect...not something "you wont notice" or something you have to silicone.

if i bought bnib, thats what id expect...not something "you wont notice" or something you have to silicone.I'd have to say that I'm 100% in agreement on this...if I bought an item that was specified as BNIB or at least in NIB condition then I would expect to receive said item in the same condition as an item I walked into a B&M store and purchased new.

I don't know djdilliodon but that I can recall I don't remember having heard any bad feedback about him. If they were insured just go that route and get it taken care of. I know it's inconvenient but at least you won't be out any $$$ that way. Good luck getting it sorted!

theres a certain peace of mind that comes with knowing that there is nothing at all wrong with your drivers. i'd seek that

He is supposed to be an authorized dealer. So if he won't warranty them for you, I'd get in direct contact with CDT.

Have you even talked to djdilliodon? He is a great guy and I'm sure he will work with you to make you happy. I have personally delt with him and have heard literally hundreds of people have great transactions with him. Give him a chance to make it right!!

Yes I have talked to him. The woofers are on back order, and these were the only ones he had. If I were to do the insurance claim it would take 1-4 weeks. Or he said he could just give me a refund.

Unless the box is seriously damaged, I sincerely doubt you'd receive any insurance refund on them.

I was hoping to keep the same woofers. I already have the CDt tweets and xovers mounted and installed. I cant just go and use a different woofer at this stage in the game.

gonna send them back and wait for the new ones to arrive.

Sounds to me like grounds for a free upgrade/acomodation...in return for the trouble of it all.

This doesnt surprise me. My friend ordered the HD set from him, paid over 300. He had them in his WRX for a bit until he took them out and sold the car. Then it came time for me to buy them. I already had my doors apart when I finally noticed the dust cap didnt look like it does on the HD set. Turns out they were the EF set.

I was also wondering why they wouldnt fit into a 6.5" hole, kind of weird.

your friend must of been pulling your leg or said they are the hd62ef which was what they use to be called since cdt changed it to just ef. If that was the case if he got ef's by mistake i was never contacted ever or i would of easly made it right no questions. who is your friend? Anyone who has bought from me in the rare case there was ever a problem they are ALWAYS takin care of no matter what.
