For some reason tube amps turn me on suddenly... Is there a decent tube amp kit out there for cheap to start out with? I want to build a headphone amp, or one for a small set of towers.

Any suggestions?

I'm selling one on Ebay, should sell for under $200 :)

If you don't want to go the single ended route, there are other options out there - look on Audiogon (http://www.audiogon.com) and Ebay for used tube amps pulled from Magnavox consoles and such - these usually only require a little bit of work and sound excellent.

http://www.decware.com - Decware's forums are a really helpful place to someone just starting out in tubes, and every now and again someone will post a schematic for an amp project...

 I threw an old radio off a three story building a couple years ago- it had tubes in it! I'm dumb :(

Thank you very much for your help. :) I think I'll join the decware forum and see where that takes me.

All I can say is 12AX7's and 6550's. Maybe if you like a dry sound with less warmth a KT-88, although most ppl cant hear the difference.

I believe you mean "enjoys the sound of pleasantly distorted music" :D
