is there a problem with firing the port sideway out of the box? i have this local shop and he does this with every box he builds ...

naw, there isnt. custek used a box similar to that and worked pretty well for a single 15R. he had ports firin to the side and sub forward.

no, but it might be bad if you have the box sitting sideways and its blowing right into the side of your trunk....other than that its strizzle

I used to see that configuration a lot back in the day. They usually were able to fit a longer port that way than on the front is my guess for the placement. It still works as intended.

I think that would be the functional purpose, to get it to fit. Other then that u MOST likely won't notice the difference.
+ it's clean, hides the port
