Mine is a porter cable 1 3/4 horse. It does very well for circle cutting and edge trimming. It was $150 off ebay shipped bnib. it came with the carrying case, a fixed base, and a plunge base. If you want one off of amazon, id take the 3hp plunge for $229 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000051WQW/002-2911868-1129647?v=glance&n=228013&n=228311&s=hi&v=glance if the circle jig will fit it :)

What type of work is being done with the router? Some people have many
routers for different jobs.
I think getting the 3 horse router would be good to start with because you
need that power to do bigger jobs well. The second thing I look for is
variable speed - a must have.
For router bits, Whiteside bits rule.
