I have a small blazer suv and i have 2 10" kickers that i need a box for...should i get a bandpass box? Ported? 1 single enclosed for each sub? 1 enclosed for both? what would sound the best and Deepest???

i have a 94 nissan pathfinder and i got me one 15 in a ported enclosure. i would say a ported enclosure.

A ported box (not bandpass, slot ports or aero's) will give you the most output, and a low tune will get you the deep notes you want.

A proper sealed enclosure will be able to play the lows as well, but you will lose a lot of output from it.

And a bandpass enclosure will sound like garbage, unless properly designed, which is just too much work IMO. An ordinary slot vented enclosure can have just as much output as a bandpass, and will be much easier to construct.

I personally prefer ported in almost all applications.

I have ran many styles of boxs and so far I actualy like the sound of a good sealed box, it will get very low and hit nice and tight.

With the ported sometimes it just didnt sound right on some songs or I heard port noise many little things, the sealed is not as loud but to me it personaly sounds good and still gets loud and low.

with the kickers i would go ported... subs on top, port firing back toward the gate (i have an s-10 blazer myself)

Not doubting that is a good solution, but what makes that good? What is the acoustical advantages to having the subs on the top and port firing to the rear?

Yea that is hard to say, just because I have a isuzu trooper and when i fire it up its not close to as loud as when I shoot to the rear. But my roof is higher than the s10 blazers as well so I dont know if thats what the diffrence is. The best thing to do is just build some boxs and find the one you like the best

I say to make a wedge style enclosure... Make the subs angle so they are pointed at the glass. just my 2 cents

I say to make a CRX style enclosure... Make the subs angle so they are pointed at the glass. just my 2 cents

umm, subs angled is NOT a CRX style box.. a CRX box fires the port back, and the subs straight up

For my Expedition I ran 2 Rl-ps sealed and they were killing my ride..

in my Range they are suicide at high volumes, poor rainbows cant keep up..

I saw keep it sealed.. but thats just me..

i have a sealed enclosure with 2 12's... in my opinion, if you aren't going for competition loundness, it doesn't really matter what kind of box you have. as long as it is solid and doesn't rattle. just match it to the subs, and the type of sound you want. you are basically sitting on the subs anyways, so going for just a loud box isn't that important.

Seal it. If you don't like it port it. Simple stuff.

ok now my turn to post as I have experience with them,

1: are they dual 2ohm or 4 ohm
2: go ported and if you are going to SPL then tune around 30hz(mine is at 40hz and they get retarded loud but could have more spl.
3:get someone on here to design you a box
4:get them to fire to the tailgate and fire the port to the tailgate.
5:these subs love the high notes so be ready for ear pearcing(sp) bass
6:heres a picture of mine

and just to show you what type of vehicle they are in....(and before someone posts, I have fixed the rust.)

tuning lower isnt going to give you more SPL... they love the high notes because you are tuned to 40hz lol.

what I meant to say was that to hit lower notes you would want to tune lower around 30hz i know mine are tuned high but it was the best i could do and they sound amazeling great. but get very loud at the same time.

Just looked it up...they do 300rms and 600 max.

if he gets 150 then he has svc comps, if he has dvc then its 300 watts. I just sold a pair of 12" svc not to long ago.

I would go ported in a sectioned enclosure. Dont run both comps in a single area they dont sound too hot like that.

What do you think none of use have experince with them? Not to mention you DONT have a SUV so a little car like yours is a HUGE diffrence were talking in my suv from the drivers seat is alot further back then yours and the headroom in a suv like mine is like 1.5 ft diffrence. You cant sit here and say what is better for a little hatchback is the best for a suv because there nothing close. I could have your car and get a 8 to sound the same as a 12 would in a suv.
