Ok.. I'm looking to replace my stock components with some better sounding ones. Right now I'm torn between the ALPINE SPR-17LS, BOSTON ACOUSTICS S60, MB QUART DSE 216, and the JL AUDIO VR600-csi. I'm just looking for a set that will sound cleaner and better then my stock speakers (I think they are infinity reference components... not sure. Whatever came with the infinity system in a 96 Eclipse).

Any ideas? These are all around the same price, just looking to see which one will sound the best.

FYI. These won't be amp'd, unless I can find an amp for them that is less than $150. They will run off of my pioneer 7700mp. If the proper amp can be bought for less than $150, I'd appreciate knowing which one would work for em. :D

I would personally go for the Bostons

If you don't amp them, then you are basically wasting your money ;) Amp them or just stick with co-axials.

But yes, amps can easily be had in that price range. Profile, US Acoustics, Lanzar, JBL BP series, etc are all reasonably decent amps that can be found in that price range.

I'd go for the bostons, with the alpine set following.

and yes, get an amp; you'll defenitely apreciate it afterwards.

a good component amp can easily be attained for less than $150.

A few examples: all these are very solid amps. All will give you around 200 RMS per channel at 4 ohms.

PS I'd go with this orion bridged to 2 channels:

Hi Ivoryblade:

I have a profile clarus cl640 for sale that I got from crutchfield in march. I used it for about 6 weeks then I upgraded to a jbl px 300.4 and now to a PG xenon 200.2 . I have the original box, manual etc. and would take $75.00 shipped for it. There's a couple links below. PM me if your interested, thanks :)

Alright.. I also am looking at OZ Vector components... would those be better than Boston Acoustics or no?

Real quick.. been outta this for a while. If the components are 4 ohm, bridged it would be a 2ohm impedence, correct? Just making sure while I look at amps. Haven't had to think about it for the past few months :-P

Nope. Still 4ohm.

You can't change the impedance of the speakers.

Holy Hell!! A solid 200w per side, from a "respectable" amp for less than $100. That's an awesome deal.

That amp has some messed up ratings...

50w x4 at 4 ohms... and then it jumps up to 200w x4 at 2 ohms?
and there is no increase in power bridging the channels at 4 ohms as opposed to running them seperately at 2.

typos perhaps?

Yes, it appears to simply be a typo. Insert "100w x 4 @ 2ohm" and the ratings make perfect sense.
