i am going to be installing a RS/security in my 2001 ford ranger V6 automatic. do i use the 555U? the 555F? or 555S? prefer one w/out extra key

555F should work well for ya. I don't think you need the S for that truck. As long as you are careful of the placement of the transmitter, you are fine.

555F is usually for PATS, although it will work on a few Securelock cars. 556S is more the common with Securelock.

Use a 555u or a 556u. the f is sometimes a real pain to keep in the right spot. but the u will require a key.

I forgot that truck used securelock. You will most likely want to use the S. As I stated before, be sure of your placement on the transponder. They are quite tricky. Test and retest. It will save you heartache in the long run, I promise.
