I am quite the newb at this stuff. I currently have an alpine cda9833 in my car and I installed the alpine siriuis tuner. I also have my ipod hooked up through the sirius tuner. I am going to replace the speakers, add a sub and an amp. What I need to know is if anyone knows what size speakers I need. As far as I know there are 4 inch speakers in the dash, 6.5 inc in the front doors and 5.25 in the back. The thing is that I am getting conflicting info. Is this info correct? Also, does that mean that I can order any speakers that are these sizes and install them or do I have to modify anything. I want a SQ setup.

You might want to do a search on mbworld.org, or http://mercedesshop.com/shopforum/index.php3 to find speaker sizes, etc.

Yup, you're right. There aren't many people on mbworld.org W126 forum talking about replacing speakers, or stereo for that matter. I'm no professional, but the only way would probably be to go and look at what size speakers you already have in your car. I drive a late 90s Mercedes but opted not to do anything elaborate on this car. I took mines to a shop for two pairs of coaxes. Sorry couldn't be of any help.

I don't want to start ripping everything apart just to find out that I don't know how to put it back  otherwise I would have. All of these online things give me different answers. I want to be able to start buying stuff when I have the money and then bring the stuff to an installer (assuming I can't do it myself.) I just figured that there might be some professionals here that would know or would be able to find out.
