Alright so today I asked my dad if he could fiberglass because I suggested he should fiberglass a wall in the bedroom him and my moms redoing just jokin around...then I was like can you fiberglass? he goes yea I fiberglassed my bumper...so is patch work the same as doing speaker boxes and such...using the resin and the cloth? if so my dads doing my sub box! :naughty:

there really isnt much to it other than getting the ratio (resin/catalyst) correct and blotting the **** out of the cloth/carpet/fleece...its the finishing that takes alot of experience/skill.

imho, getting the rings to be perfect circles makes a huge difference in the overall outcome of the piece..you can do an awesome sanding/filling/finishing job and have a a great paint job done, but if you have some jagged looking rings it ruins it for me.

Why not learn how to do it yourself ?
id like to learn...I was just asking if it the same thing dude...im getting into doing it but i dont think ill be good enough to do a box anytime soon

do that ***** yourself...soooooo easy. if u can write...u can atleast get it strong enough to bang in without finishing work....and if u can sand, u can get it bondo'd up....spraying takes skill.

my dad was the one who showed me how to fiberglass. he used to do a lot of work on cars and whenever there was any body damage he would fill it with fiberglass

The hard part of fiberglassing is not the actual fiberglass.

its making the mold that you apply the glass too.

then the finishing of the fiberglass.

I say read up on the net, Then get your dad to help you with the basics ( mixing ratio's, wetting out techniques yada yada) . Having someone around that knows the basics can help a whole lot. Unless your dad was building boat hulls for a living ( my dad actually did :p: ) . You will both probably need to read up on frame building, and how to create baffles and such. :)
