View Full Version : Settling for Coxials: My two choices

After living with a single speaker and mulling over what set of components to get, I've finally decided that I don't really want components for various reasons. Instead, I've decided to pick up some decent (I think these two are decent) coaxials and forget the whole component thing until I am ready for all of the extra work. I am by no means an audiophile, I simply want something that I can drop in, get loud, and sound pretty good.

After doing a bit of searching, I've narrowed it down to two 2way coaxials, and I was wondering which people perfer (and for which reasons, i.e. better highs or midbass on a particular model), or if there was something I had missed while searching. My price range fell inbetween the $90-130 range, and these are the two I found:

Set 1: Diamond Audio M361i ( http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=12436 )

Set 2: Pioneer TS-D160R ( http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=11961 )

Power won't be a huge problem; my current amp can put out 175x2 RMS, though I'd never push it that high. So, any suggestions? Did I miss a good set of coaxials in my price range?

I just noticed I spelled Coaxial wrong in the title, and now I can't change it :( Doh!

So the DA are pretty much the best coax I will find in my price range? Good to know, guess I'll order them tomorrow

screw the pioneers, I just donated four pioneer coaxials to the girlfriend's magnet collection.

I'm trying to convince her to make a voicecoil gun. ;)
