Hello everyone, name is Dante and i live in San Diego Cali. I drive a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder and been all over car audio. Hitting the age of 16 i got my license and bought my first system. Bought a Phoenix Gold ZX475Ti from a friend and bought a dual 12" subs, called Directed Pros. Back then i did not know much about subs, amps, etc.. so i just bought what looked decent to me.

Pic of Directed pros in bandpass enclosure:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/fat_boyz/BandPass%20Box/subsforsale011.jpg

Now i am 17 years old heading on to senior year and wanted to upgrade my system. So then i thought about it and thought and wanted to create my own enclosure and buy a great 15 in sub. For a great few days of researching and help ( especially help in this forum..thanks everyone ) i found that i will be buying a Cerwin Vega VMAX-15DVC. With the airspace i have in my trunk, i really wanted to take advantage. So i chose to create a Custom Ported Enclosure.

Thanks to Moe Lester he designed my ported enclosure...

So then next day i bought and cut the materials asap!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/fat_boyz/Ported%20Box/DSCN0884.jpg

That day i was too excited so i went and bought the equipment i needed and worked on it that day. Here are most of the equipment i used for my box....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/fat_boyz/Ported%20Box/DSCN0883.jpg

With the hot *** weather in san diego i was in my backyard building it... taking my time and efficiency.. i finished a couple of the parts of my box. Starting with the bottom, then the sides, etc.

These corner clamps are realllllly helpful. No need for a second hand to help me. These are available at a local Sears.

Continuing with my building... i have been having so much fun...

and here is my final result topping it off with the top board on..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/fat_boyz/Ported%20Box/DSCN0898.jpg

Then after how many days of waiting...i have finally recieved my sub. Recieving my sub was so exciting it felt like i won the lottery. Lol.

And then the difficult part for me was cutting the dam circle. I was hesitating becuase i did not have no compass. So again with the help of Moe Lester he told me just to create a compass out of cardboard. It was funny at first, but found it was actually really useful. Cutting the circle was horrible... i had trouble at first but got the hang of it and finally i did it. Done.

Now, that is my final results. It took me one week and i am happy of the results i recieved. From looking at the pictures... did u guys think i did alright for my first time building an enclosure? I haven't even made my first sealed enclosure before and i am surprised i built a ported one. :)

Btw, Do not worry.. i will be carpeting my box with the salt and pepper carpet and will post that ASAP tomorrow or sunday. :)

Thanks everyone for the help.

Hope you guys enjoyed my first time of building. This hobby can get really addicting. :veryhapp:

i also just finished my box, but it dident come out that good. i dident have those 90* clamps and i was putting it together bymyself. i really made a big mess. i am going to to buy some of those clamps cuz i still have a whole nother sheet of mdf so i can make a second box. plus i used a crappy table saw so this time i might map out my cuts and cut the wood at work. (i work at home depot). if i happen to buy a digi cam this week ill take pictures

How much does that Walmart carpet run you per yard?

danteBirosel
09-13-2005, 11:07 PM
for a roll its 8 bucks... they have tan, black, gray, and i think they have another color but im not sure.

So since my box is pretty huge i had to buy 2 rolls of it. I had to make 2 runs to wal mart because that first roll wasn't enough.

Cost me 8$ for a roll of 36"X 72" not too bad :)

Can be found in the automotive section around where the rugs are.

how did u do the cuts? did u have like Home depot cut it for u. or u use a table saw or something?

danteBirosel
09-23-2005, 05:19 PM
nah bro i used the technique of using 2 2" C-Clamps.. a long enough 2x4... bricks on the bottom for support.. and a skilsaw. Hold down the long 2x4 on top of the MDF wood and clamp them in place with a c-clamp on each end. and then use the 2x4 as a guide to cut down a straight line.

home depot can cut it for you.. but it wont be as "perfect"

danteBirosel
09-23-2005, 05:20 PM
btw, i been taking it step by step in the process and not rushing anything... so once i get everything clean and smoothin out on my system, i will post all the pictures for sure. :)

Got alot of great feedback from family members, friends, and strangers. Overall, i was highly impressed on how perfect Moe Lestor designed my box. Thanks for the comment bro.
