i got an alpine MRPF240 amp which does 40 X 4 @ 4ohm . i am in the process of buying Re series comp set. which is rated as 50 wrms. Is it ok to power them 40 wrms? would i be loosing SQ or loudness or would it not matter much? or should i bridge 2 channels and power them 100 wrms each?
thanks !

THey will do fine off of 40 rms. These comps cant take that much power anyway. Dont bridge your amp for these, you will lose your Stereo effect

I am running mine off 100 watts RMS at the moment and they sound like they can easily take more

"[/useless post]" was regarding my one liner post; not yours with something actually useful in it.

I am dissapointed in mine too... Tweeter overpowers the mids and they dont get all that lod as I thought they would.

RE RE comps are known for harsh tweets. If you can ever get a hold of the Aura Tweeters floating around here, they are appearantly a perfect match to the mids without any work on the crossover. They were originally sold for $20 a pair, but since now everyone knows how good they are they go a little higher.

I like the RE tweets... just turn the treble EQ down a little

That solution is specific to you, unfortunately. =\ Any random HU's treble could be set at an equally random frequency.

I don't know how the tweeters could possibly drown out the midbass- these mids are very abundant in the midbass region.

The tweeters are a tad harsh when you give them more then 75wrms from my findings. Sound rather well when you tame them down and give em a little less power.

For $150, you can't go wrong with this set. I wrote a review on them a while back comparing them to the CDT CL-61's (which are $150 as well), and the RE set>CDT set.
