Ahhhh....vinyl. 'Tis good.

Now all you need is a 35-40 watt push-pull pentode amp down there :D

They're way too inefficient for anything SET, but a quad EL34 beast would rock out ;)

unless it doesnt and he's posting pics to attract a sucker buyer

With the amount of work he's put into those things, I wouldn't doubt they were worth every minute...and even if they didn't, between the SSA crew that's been following the project and the Home Audio guys over on SIN, he'd have quite a line if he ever wanted to sell :D

You'd be surprised. ;) Primarily 3rd and 4th order desgin with only one RL notch leaves for a lot of native efficiency.

You're more than welcome to come have a listen ... quite the drive, though :p:

They sound great - it's a completely different tone than I'm used to, but I like it. I'll post my full findings after a week or so of listening to them the way they are now (sealed) ... and again after about a week of listening to them ported (7's). Even afer a couple weeks, I'll still consider my thoughts to be initial.

Did you buy those precision ports for me? I don't see them used in those cabinets...

ss3079

They will be put in on August 2nd.

I want to run them sealed up until that exact date.

Actually, I'm waiting on a drill bit

GO DAYTON!

my man knows a good product when he sees one, and i'm loving the all dayton components. all my speakers use daytons except for the hivi full ranges and the goldwood towers (titantic III 15" pwns joo) i'm running those same caps. next time tho, use the audio theta caps, they offer a much smoother sound

Glad you like them. I figured that you would be happy when you seen the Dayton stuff :)

Those Audio theta caps ... little expensive, no?

GO DAYTON!

**** Dayton (not the speakers)

Once again Steve they look great. I'll have to start budgeting for a trip up to BC to check out the area and what not, and then drive out to the boonies to meet ya and compare systems (yes the door pods will be done by then...:crap:)

Maybe I can give you that package then too, lol...

You know, just the other day I seen two job offerings in the local paper ... wanting HVAC guys :p:

I don't plan on moving till I get my record expunged, that way I can ACTUALLY get a job... god I ****ed myself on that one...

Maybe there will be another PE tent sale and I can pick up stuff for everyone and deliver it across the country whilst seeing everyone's systems for a delivery fee, plus maybe some places to sleep along the way. Yep, that's it I'm whoring out the next PE tent sale to make the trip cheaper for me.

What am I talking about, I'm gonna sleep in the back seat anyway:cool:

In the case of this particular system, there is a 1.5~2db RL series filter at around 100hz to tame a small response hump that is native. I don't recall exactly how much it was, as I don't have the system loaded in front of me - but I believe it was pretty minor - I added it as it's cheap and it's better to start at a flat response and tweak to the user from there.

now that i look at it again, could i see a system impedance graph for those please steve? i'm curious how u kept it flat with all of the different comps and no imp eq or lpad...thanx. btw, how do u like those reference speakers? i've never heard them specifically but i HAVE heard that they sound beautiful.

Love the reference speakers. They're awesome. When I have some extra cash laying around, I'd like to try them in-car.

What does a zobel have to do with this system response? I didn't get a request from Steve that said "I'm hooking this to my 2wpc house heater slash foot warmer slash amplifier, and it grows legs and starts coming at me with a bloody cudgel if I don't keep the load stable within a few tenths of an ohm..." so I didn't bother adding the extra cost of them into the design as it doesn't serve a purpose.

Next to no design I've done to date involves a lpad - I try to stick to drivers that can mate fairly easily without one.
