Do you think 2 12" SE's in a ported box tuned to I dont know what would sound good in a home environment off a PE 1000Watt amp? Gonna be used for music movies and games.

1000w would be more than enough in a home setup. If done right, they would make a great sub-stage.
Don't see why not :)
Home audio boxes are generally tuned low...20 to 25Hz would be a good range.

What do you guys think of as far as how big the box should be I have no clue. And I have never heard 1000Watts in a home setting whats it like?

If you want the best audiophile setup, one box per side would be cool, but amping them becomes weird.
I would think Sealed would be a good way to go. Maybe like 1.6 cubes per sub?

So sealed would be better than ported in home use?

Not necessarily, it would just be easier and with 2 12"s, you'd have lots of output.

I want the most output out of these puppies so how would I port these that low and how big of a box oh and thanks for the help so far.

Well to port low you need a long port. As for dimensions of a box, just ask moelester or someone who does designs, it'll only cost you a few $.

Sweet so I need like a 4.0cuft box ported to like 22Hz something like that?
07-27-2005, 02:02 AM
Or bigger box?
07-27-2005, 02:02 AM
That could work.

I like the idea of one sub on each side :-)
In a quant little 2.5^ ft per sub, I think itd be well, it'd be quite CRAZY for home audio but hey, if it floats yer boat man

*Note* - Could anyone link me to a place where I can buy home audio amps? I'm wanting to build a little bit of a home audio system myself lol, I know minimal about it though

Partsexpress.com is where I seen that plate amp for the subs. Im thinking two different enclosures two 500WRMS plate amps hehe should be fun.

Question(and sorry to jump all up on your thread bro)...
But If I were to get say four ported 8's and a plate amp, would a normal fairly nice surround sound system be able to keep up, or would I have to upgrade the highs/mids also?

Hey go ahead jack my thread I got my answer. And 4 8's would be awesome.
