so he has a 2000 (or so) toyota camry. he just scooped a deck from CC that i swapped in there (iso mount + metra smart harness = teh own) in about 10 minutes. took longer to get the cage off and everything out of the plastic than to actually swap the radios

so then i put two sets of 5.25 next components in the front doors (i hate the toyota doors, because they use these gay white clips that break eaisly, and the stock speaker has some weird triangular basket, so regular 5.25's wont fit

then i put the mids from another set (with crossovers) in the rear deck - and the rear deck is also a *****, why cant they bolt the speakers from UNDERNEATH instead of dropins+screws... and i got a nice little 4 channel AudioArt oldschool gainblock (prolly like [email protected] or so) for him. it shwill pump up the volume a bit.

and today we made some glassed boxes for his trunk, corner boxes - looking mighty ****, but since it rained, the humidity is making it take forever for them to dry - if its nice tomrrow and they arent solid, ill put them in the sun for a little bit.

i ordered a profileAP1000 for him. he is getting a pair of NEXT 10's - prolly like [email protected]

here ar esome pics, it should be fairly **** when its all said and done. and im making custom tweet sail mounts for him when my plastic filler comes in the mail.

(the next amp thats in the pics is mine, just there for show, and the audioart amp isnt hooked up yet, just HU power for now, awaiting a good amp kit if i can find one)

the boxes are drying, and in the next few days, hopefully we can wire up the AP1000 and give them a testrun :)

i gotta do some measuring to see if they are close to the same volume and see if one needs some backfill. im looking for ~1 cube for each side :)

oh man req awesome work

07-14-2005, 11:43 PM
i thought it was bad to mount an amp upside down, why not do the floating trick?

its not a real heat machiene, it wont be putting out hundreds of watts, and its a straight gainblock. with an amp that small, and a heatsink that large, i doubt there will be any issues.

and BTW, this was all 3 days of work so far :)

the components took by far the most work... such a PITA to do :p:

kuijo, nice sig. I like that. :veryhapp:

03-14-2007, 01:28 AM
****. i never posted finished pics for this i dont think?

here we go :)

thats about it. comps up front, comps in rear, running off that little audioartNSX amp. and that sucker makes some serious power. i was freggin floored about how loud those comps got off that little amp. like 9"x9"

tweeter pods were done with HzEmAll's plastic filler, and SEM texture spray. i never got to paint them with the SEM black coat because he had to leave for college the next day. but they still looked great with just the black texture coat on them they look a lot less 'matte' in regular sunlight.

and the next 10's are getting like 200w each or so (amp is the 2ohm mono 400w profile)

and the volume of the enclosures was way too big, so i backfilled them with some closed-cell foam i had in the basement :)

it was a long time ago. but hooray. :D
