sup...i got a am/fm reciever playing treble in my roomand this amp has a lot of power at 8 ohms :up2somet: ...it had burnt 4 of my tweets with 2 pairs wired in parallel...which means the 2 channels put out 4 ohms since each tweet were 8 ohms...the back of the amp said dont use speakers less than 8 ohms...so i guess thats why they burns...they are 250wpeak each...i replaced the diapraghms and before i hook them up again i wanna know what can i do to stop them from burning again as this was the 3rd time they burnt...and the diapraghms aren't cheap :furious: ...and these tweets are rather old...like 9 or 10years old...they are nippon america ntx-3000...what can i do...help plz.

um...the amp's volume nob goes up to 10units....i dont put it louder than 2...cause 2 is good enough...and it doesn't have too much equipment backing it up...its connected to an equalizer and straight to my comp...and the tweets are professional titanium

Obviously 2 is too much power if you're fryin em, the ONLY way speakers "fry" is sending too much power to them.

this amp also fried my cuz's 2 500wrms each tweets...i dont really think it put out that much power into one channel...cause his 2 tweets are 4ohms and were wired in parallel to make the 8ohms...

but i see where you're coming from...what can i do to reduce the power???

500wrms tweeters...holy mother of God.

What kind of speakers are these, it sounds like the crossovers need to be worked on, or at least modified to roll off the power going to the tweets.

I want some 500 watt rms tweeters :crying: :crying:

creater
07-13-2005, 02:57 PM
hahaha...they are titanium bullet tweeter...i think with a 3"dipraghm...very loud...used for professional apps...

anyways...i dont have a crossover in my room...but on the system...i have an EQ and a pre amp...and this amp is only set to the EQ

here is the tweeter my cuz got...
http://www.millionbuy.com/pyrtw67.html
and in pro apps that aint the most powerful...there is also this...which isn't available where i live
http://www.teptronics.com/gmi676.html

but we use the pyramids...and it aint cheap here to replace those diapraghms

JimJ
07-13-2005, 03:07 PM
Perhaps they're blowing because they're Pyramid?

Those can't handle 500wrms...I'd put money on it.

I'd get a set of "real" speakers, or build them using good parts. Guarantee you won't blow them if you select the right stuff :)

creater
07-13-2005, 03:10 PM
um can you recommend a pair of tweets that can handle 500wrms...cause they are use for pro apps

x2

I was looking at the supposed specs for the tweets in those links and was just going "Whaa..?!"

creater
07-13-2005, 03:11 PM
and no its not bacause they are pyramids...i know that pyramid aint too good...but there is another guy with 2 of these and he runs them off of a qsc amp...and they never blow...
i seriously wonder why

Chevyaudio

whoops dont want 500 watt rms pyramid tweeters, and x3 there is no way those things are 500 watts rms

JimJ

You're confusing the heck out of me here. First you said you wanted to fix a system for your bedroom, now you say they're used for pro sound...which is it?

In home, there's no way you need 500wrms going to your tweeters. No way.

What are you running for the midrange/midwoofers in the system? You can't just listen to tweeters...

2 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel will not produce an 8 ohm load. that will produce a 2 ohm load. maybe that's your problem?

the speakers are from a pro sys that i put in my room...most of the equipment are all pro...except this amp...its not one of those 3 way home setups...its part of a pro system that i got in my room...2 12"....2 horns" and these tweets...

something is missing and the only tweeters i've seen taking 500 watts are not being used in people's bedrooms. this isn't to mention that they would be planar, ribbon or piezo horns....not many 3" cones can take even half that :)

creater
07-13-2005, 08:00 PM
um...i gave a link to it on the first page...and may i keep repeating that this equipment is part of a pro setup...that is temporarily in my room

well...that's what we have in guyana so thats what we gotto use...but i use nippon america...thats when they used to make these tweets...and these tweets holla...

but as a question...what are some 500wrms tweets that can handle pro apps???
they must be titanium bullets though!!!

you'll want somethin 14x7 or 16x8 you know wide and big, once you pick out a compression driver I'm sure the manyfacture will recomend the right lense for it
