I am restoring my 1970 Chevy Impala, and want to have a component set that will make my car sound like its in a movie theater  ! Can anyone give me some recommendations on the comp. system and an amp. Willing to spend around $700 :naughty:

700.00. Well, since I have them and they sound great to me. I'll recommend a higher end rainbow set with at good 2 channel amp, say memphis.
If you wanted to spend the whole 700, 500 towards a great set of comps and 200 toward the amp. Or you could save a little and get a great rainbow comp set for 300 and a 200 dollar amp.

How does this sound?

DLS Iridium 6.2 6.5" components
DLS CA-23 Amp 100x2RMS (underrated)

both for $700 shipped.

I don't know anything about components, is this a top-of-the-line brand, and is it worth $700? :eyebrow:

YES THE DLS IS A TOP OF THE LINE BRAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have the speakers that are one step below the Iridiums, the Ultimate Reference UR6 model. All I can tell you is that with my specific speakers, they really didn't perform in my doors as i thought they would really low. However, as soon as I put them in kickpanels (enclosures mounted in the corners of the floor foot room) they had really, really good midbass.

I don't have much experience with many component sets in the door (infinite baffle) I think that you should get the Iridiums and put them in the doors, and if they don't end up having the lower frequencies that you want, try your hand at fiberglassing kickpanels. It really isn't too hard and can give more potential to the speakers. However these things are different with each speaker model, so the Iridiums could prove themselves in the door.

I'll respond to any other questinos you may have about the DLS line.
