View Full Version : i measured my alpine's pre-outs.. please answer this question

hey i decided to measure the subwoofer pre-out voltage on my ALPINE 7995 after reading this thread http://www.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=102017 .

I did the following playing a 0db 50hz sine wave:

-when i had the volume at 25 (out of 35) and the subwoofer level at +15 (out of 15) it measured a little less than a volt!
-when i had the volume at 30 (out of 35) and the subwoofer level at +15 (out of 15) it measured a little under 2 volts.. about 1.8 volts
-when i had the volume at 35 (out of 35) and the subwoofer level at +15 (out of 15) it measured a little under 4 volts.. about 3.7 volts.

i currently have the gains on my amps set at VOLUME 25 being the max.. what im wondering is should i be setting the gains at a little higher volume, now that i know that the HU puts out LESS THAN A VOLT at volume 25??

Are you sure that is correct? That seems really low less than 1 volt at roughly 70% volume. Whe reading more threads about this it seems lots of hu are overrated. I would leave them if you like how it sounds

yea i,m sure. and im sure other ppl's alpines will yield the same results. maybe i should set the gain at 30 volume instead of 25 since 30 seems to yield more voltage??

Do you think my alpine would be the same too? Where do you listen to it mostly that is where I would set my gains

yea im prety sure youre alpine would yield the same results. umm when i set the gain using volume 25 i usually listen to it under 25 a little. hahah isnt that a useless question? cuz if i were to have set my gains using 35 then i would be listening no more than 35.. ahhah

This is correct as I have been told, the Alpine sub preout only makes 4volts at max hu volume and at max sub preout level. Check the front and rear outs, they should rate much better.
