Ok, so here is why...I go and buy the new cda 9855..I installed it and it worked great for about a week. Then, it stopped ejecting cds, so I pull it out and reset it. That fixed the problem for about another week, and it stopped ejecting cds again. So I take it back and get another cda 9855. That has been working great for about a week till just now...I go out to my car, turn on the radio, and it starting playing music, but no buttons or volumn nobe was working. So I try the remote...nothing happens. So I push the reset buttoon. The power turns off, but all the buttons still don't work so it wont turn on. I tried take the face off and putting it back on, but that didn't do anything. Agh, I'm so pissed off. I had just got done fixing a flat tire on my car and decided to listen to music...then this happens. Screw alpine and screw my car.

ive had my 9827 for like a year now

absolutly NO problems.

sounds like your retailer is giving you bunk equipment.

i think there have been many issues with the new alpines. i believe a large number of them were even recalled because of these failures.

apparently alpines QC has been slipping, as well as some of the quality of the HU's(IMO). i have had few problems with my 9815, even after i took a soldering iron to it

same here. I thought mine was messed up because the sound in the right side would go out sometimes. But I just pushed on it and something just clicked into place. I gess it was just the RCAs that was loose.

what should I do? Try for a 3rd 9855 or should I return it and get an older alpine?

I thought they released a mum 2nd version of the 9855s and 9853s... ask your dealer.

definalty return it.

definalty ask for a BRAND new, not old stock, im talking - tell them to order one right there, and have it shipped directly from alpine to you ;)

i doubt they will do that. but keep getting new ones, maybe ask for the next model up because you are sick of getting broken ones.

if they sell eclipse, tell them you will settle for nothing less than an eclipse deck that has AT LEAST the same features as your alpine.

Have you been reading the forums at all? There have been countless posts from people complaining about 05 alpines, especially the 9855.

I can't decide to see if the 3rd try is a charm or just get my money back and buy an older one and save some money. Or, I could just go with a different brand.

Any suggestions? :)

or the 9835. I mean if u got a warranty I dont see why u have a problem getting another deck. Its not like if u pay for it. At least u know ur gettin ur moneys worth out of ur warranty

If you want to try a different brand, I would strongly recommend checking out Eclipse.

actually looking at the price of the 9855 i would probably recommend the eclipse too. U can probably get a model from last year for about the same price as the 9855.

seems to me that the Alpines went from great to crap in a short model change
All I keep hearing is how the CD get stuck or the flip panel is jammed
I have never hear so much bad press about a headunit in my life
2005 = the demise of Alpine HUs

I also notice Alpine has no online support(did I miss it?)
I tried to find an Email addy for them and notta

I love sending threads like this to MFGs for them to read
and try to get them to respond -

As in the other post, tried to warn you all about the 05 models! They changed all of the internals to make them a better bang for the buck / mass produced model which ended up nipping them in the arse. << sticking with my bullet proof 9835 :) WICKED deck.

Well, they aren't getting any more 9855's till Tuesday. I think I am going to get yet another 9855 (third one has to be good...) and if that one screws up on me also, I think I am just going to just get the 9835. I might also check out Eclipse.

i had a few proplems with my 9833 so i took it back under warrenty but all they had to replace it was the 9853 (wich is a pos and doesnt compare to the 9833) so i waited to get the 9855 wich came out last thursday ( i live in b.c. and the recalled the first 2 sets because of problems, waiting 4 months) anyways ive had it for 3 days and havent had any problems so i sujest you demand a brand new one right from alpine (not a wearhouse) and see if that works.

as for the 05 i am soo disapointed

I think I just want to get the 9835 from somewhere new and save the money. The 05 models aren't worth it.

I'm at the point of where I want to get rid of my 9855 and get the Clarion 955 instead. Not knocking Alpines at all cause the 7995 I just gave up was a great deck and I regret letting it go. Just really irritiates me that I have to treat the Alpine I just bought like a $20 tv to get it to work right. Wanted the 9835 originally but everywhere I tried to get it no longer had any of last year's models left.

I returned my 9855 today. So I just have a hole in my dash for right now untill I find something else. I can't make up my mind though. I am leaning towards alpine still, 9835, but they are hard to find.
