I'm going to be building a new ported box for my 2000SPL's. Pioneer recommends 1.75 cu.ft ported. Does that include sub and port displacement?

Also, what would be the best way to fire the subs and the ports inside of a station wagon?

bump. Anyone know the answer to either of these questions?

What are you tuning the box to?
And I guess I would consider a station wagon a hatchback car so fire the sub and port upward.

Before you ask, either port will sound the same, Slot ports are easier to build into the box and allow for more port area, round ports are easy to just slide in, less port area also take up less room in the enclosure that you have to account for with slot ports.

I'm going to go with Pioneer's recommendations. The sub's displacement is .083 cu.ft. I will be doing a round port 4" wide, 6.5" long, which I believe is tuned to 38hz. And I will be using 3/4" MDF

That is NET box volume; after port and sub displacement.

:fyi: A 4" port isn't anywhere near enough port area :fyi:

4" in diameter, and 6.5" long is what Pioneer recommends with this box

That still isn't enough port area. Lots of port noise with that..

Well wouldnt changing the area of the port also change its tuning?

You can have more port area and still achieve the desired tuning.

How do you do that ? Bigger diameter and shorter port?
