View Full Version : Must choose how to fire sub asap

I'm going to start working on my box today and I need to decide if it's going to fire up or out. It's a 15" Brahma and if it fires up there's only about an inch between it and the hatchback of my eclipse. If it fires out, I'm not sure how much room there is, but it'd be more than an inch. Is it ok to only have that inch of room?

15 in brahma excursion = more than 1 inch.
I think in a hatchback firing up is best, but I'm sure you need more than one inch clearance.
Can't you move the sub closer to the back seats so it's not so close to the hatch?

It's a 98. I'm going to cut all the sides out and make sure it'll fit before I do anything else. I'll check where I can position the sub at that point and make a decision.

do you have to decide which way to fire based on how you build the box
deciding how to build the box based on how you fire it?
because im pretty sure its highly reccomended to fire up in a hatchback.

Actually I can only fire it up. The sides aren't big enough to allow the sub to fit. I just cut all but 2 sides and there seems to be enough space for the sub to move.
Just started raining so I'll have to cut the last 2 sides and start sanding stuff later.

Just make the baffle double. Two pieces of 3/4" MDF and make a flush mount. Cut the hole in the top piece 15.5" and the hole in the bottom piece 14"
