    Orion 2500d help

Well i got everything working and did the gain guide with a dmm.....but i have to turn my gain up almost all the way to get 42.2 volts (1800 watts) is what im trying to run it at. This is off my stock eletrical system.....so could this be because that the amp isnt getting enough power from my battery/alternator? Or is this a defective amp? Also i ran it for about 20 minutes like that just to see if it would run and it got ****ing hot as hell.....so i have it unplugged right now and im trying to figure out how to fix this problem. Im running a 15" xxx also fyi. So any input you guys would help me out greatly. THx

do you have a sub output on your head unit? If so turn it up. I have a pioneer deck and I got 50Vac easily with +3 on the sub output. Do you have 2 4guage power and ground wires connected to the amp?

    2500 sqr root=50 Vac

Yes i know but i have to turn the amp almost all the way up to get 50 volts on the dmm......so what does this mean? I didnt think i would have to turn a 2500d all the way up to get just my 1 15" xxx to move........could this be because im running it off a stock battery and altenator and the amp isnt getting enough current?

    Is this your headunit?

    http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?...=235&aff=45847

If so it has 5v preouts looks like it also will have the sub level control. I bet you have it set all the way down

Sub level control on a head unit acts like a bass nob where you can control your bass output. BTW, I have mine connected with stock alt and battery. Look in your manual.

    Re: Orion 2500d help

Must be the amp then.....because i have to crank the gain out almost full blast to get the sub to even move. I've tryed 1ohm, 4 ohm, running each voice coil on each channel....checked all my wires. Still doing the same thing....so it must be the amp or something.

    Re: Orion 2500d help

Well the only way i can actually get the 42 volts is to crank the amp up to almost full gain.....so thats why i thought it might be the amp. I didnt think i would have to turn the gain up that much to get 42 volts....so ya.
