    amp power output help

I'm running an older alpine 3554 amp with the following specs:
    4 channel mode:
    50 watts x 4 into 4 ohms
    750 watts x 4 into 2 ohms
    3 channel mode:
    50 watts x 2 into 4 ohms or
    75 watts x 2 into 2 ohms and
    150 x 1 into 4 ohms
    2 channel mode
    150 watts x 2 into 4 ohms

What I want to do however is run 2 channels at 2 ohms and 2 channels at 4 ohms. (Wiring 4 four ohm rear speakers in parallel) but I don't know if having different resistances in the channels is bad for the amp, or what kind of wattages I would get out. If anyone has any idea on this I wouldn't mind some help.

    Matt

Well, having the two different impedences isn't necessarily bad. Plenty of people essentially do that same thing (by running two channels to their front speakers, and bridging the other two channels to their sub).

However, I question your wanting to run 4 rear speakers What's that all about?!?

Yeah, well, I've got 4 5 1/4" speakers and thought I might as well use 'em, and that size doesn't fit in my fronts.

Eh.....I'd stick with only using 2, at most, back there. Don't need to use them just because you have them.
