New Head Unit and Old amplifiers, will they work together nicely

MY alpine head unit has up to 4 volts volume output. Will this higher output voltage work with an older amplifier? Is there a mod that can be used on the amp to accept this higher voltage?

    Thanks

It shouldn't be a prob. I use a 4 volt hu that links to an old school rf amp from 93 or so.

What about putting a resistor in series with the old amp?

If the amplifier is not setup to handle the 4 volt input. What about putting a resistor in line with the RCA inputs of the amplifier.

Re: New Head Unit and Old amplifiers, will they work together nicely

all aarc audio seems to say on their manual about using 2 volt preouts. Yet so many people use the amp with a 4 volt preout hu.

Don't worry so much about the volt thing, don't go crazy with the gains. If it's 4 volts, the gains should be lower than when using 2 volt preouts.

    [QUOTE]

    yeah....

Arc lists their Input Sensitivity as 250mV- 2.8V "@ 1khz"......this spec doesn't mean I can't see more than 2.8v......Why would Arc make 8v and 9v preamps in their processors and EQ's if their amps couldn't handle it??I have 8v preouts going to mine....

Mike16 you are worrying about something that needs no attention...just set your gains accordingly- see a gain setting tutorial
