    Infinity amp cuts out

I'm more familiar with subs than amps.. so maybe one of you fine gentleman could help me. I have an Infinity Beta Digital 300, and if you're familiar with it, it's about a thousand bucks retail. I haven't had it very long, and it's worked fine until now. All of a sudden, when I get the volume up, it loses power! First I thought it overheated and cut out, but as soon as I turn the volume to about midway, the bass kicks in again. Has anyone heard of this? Any help would be very much appreciated. 1000 bucks isn't cheap, and I can't afford a new amp anytime soon.

check your RCA's thats what is was on my friends his got loose and when he turned his kenwood up to like 22 the subs would cut out, then for some reason when we ****ed with the rcas it didnt do it no more, so make sure your rcas are tight in the amp......

Ok first of all let me clarify something, RCA's send signals, the wire from the battery terminal supplies your power. So one of two things is happening, you are either loosing your signal, or you are loosing power. Check ALL wires as stated above, but also check to make sure you have your subs wired properly to the amp.

Mytrunk: Wonderbread was correct in saying I was being sarcastic towards the people who sold me the amp.
Wonder: Yeah dude, I hate to say it.. but it was refurbished. It was the first refurbished item I've ever bought, and I've learned my lesson. I'm running 2000 watt 4 guage power wires to the amp, so it should be fine.. I also had my friend (does side installs) double check my wiring, and said there wasn't anything wrong with it.

What confuses me is that they advertised a 1 year warrantee on the amp, but when I recieved it, the seals on it were broken. We'll see what happens, I don't have very much luck with internet companies.

Thank you for your time Wonderbread, AND Mytrunk

Are you sure it's not a voltage problem? You may be lacking power and at high volumes the amp cuts off.

Is this not a reasonable place to park?

Well, the battery is fine, the wires are all new, so the only thing I can think of is the amp. I'm not sure if there's anything else that could affect the power?

If the amp turns on and off it can only be one of a few things. Treat it like you would any other problem then simply eliminate the ones that do not fit. You checked the power and ground on both ends, and those were fine. You checked the RCA's, those weren't the culprits either. Check the remote wire at both ends, perhaps it came loose, although turning the HU up would not have an affect on this. I still believe it's a voltage problem. Your alternator isn't putting out enough to run your electrical system and to keep up with your audio system. If the system voltage drops too low, your amp shuts off.

it could be ur impedence of ur subs. you could have went outside the range of the amp.

I am not trying to be rude to anyone but it would seem to me y'all are going in the wrong direction. The amps powers up, so it is getting power; it does play sound; therefore the RCAs are working. The issue is coming when it is asking for more power.

So all that is left is either the Alternator as stated above, or maybe the amps ICs are clipping.
The amp may have an intermitant ground on the RCA plugins. But I wouldn't really see that being the problem cause it sould show signs of this at a lower level when the bass its.

I would lean more towards the amp having a problem. I just dont see an amp completely shutting off if it was an alternator not being able to handle the power, it should just draw power from the other parts of the system like the lights and all.

Do me a favor, does the amp have a power light? Crank the volume up to the cuttoff point and see if the light goes off.

Oh I just thought of something.
    1) do you have more than one amp running off the HU?
    2) Do you have mulitiple RCA outs on the HU?

Let me know, I think I might have an idea.
